Ceriso was once a notable scholar. He actively contributed to the research of the arcane forces residual from the magic blast that ended the second age. He was obsessed with his work, it consumed him night and day. He went without sleep for weeks, living off of an energizing substance he had invented himself. Ceriso felt he was so close. So close to a brand new discovery, one that would change how the world used magic. He was conducting his research in the deepest depths of the Starwood Strand. He had an idea of how to tap into the force that powered the strange abnormalities of the Arcanist's Domain. The dark dragon began etching symbols into the sparkling trees. Ceriso claims he managed it in a couple of hours, but some of his assistants at the time say he was there for days; scraping odd runes onto every surface in a half mile diameter. When it was complete, you could feel the glistening power bubbling in the air. Without any pretense, the spell collapsed. The magic tore through the grove, every sigil was obliterated, encrusted with the shimmering pink formations that covered the Crystalspine Reaches. Ceriso could feel the magic piercing his skin, tangling with his insides. He thought he was dying. Eventually the onslaught subsided, and Ceriso was taken into medical care. Entire chunks of his body had been vaporized and pink crystal formations had grown in their place. None of the healers knew how he was surviving, as many vital organs were now stone. The current conclusion is that the magic that tore through him that day is still lingering, and keeping him alive. Since then Ceriso has had gem cutters turn the spikes of orchid toned rock into more convenient shapes. Like feet.

Some of Ceriso's colleagues will say that on the day of "Ceriso's Big Mistake" he became a madman. Ceriso will say that's when he became a poet. Captivated by the glory of the universe that stabbed his mind on that day, he changed his path to one that focused on art. He replaced his research notes with musical notes. He focused on the scales of song versus the scales of measurement. He abandoned scientific instruments and filled his lab with... normal instruments. He sings of what hides behind reality, and what lurks between dimensions. To anyone that will listen, he tries to explain the revelations he saw when the magic that created the Arcanist fluttered throughout his soul. His Current project is to replicate the exact sound of the universe's birth. The most recent prototype is a massive bass boosted kazoo. Everyone hates it.
