About
tumblr_inline_o21bm3kZFq1r3lvtf_400.png

He takes space very seriously and is absolutely drawn to all things arcane. He has a pride for the Isle like a grandfather who just came from the war would- very versed in history particularly. Galaxy is very insightful and will take a long moment of silence before answering anything- but when he does answer, it's with absolute certainty. He's a very fatherly, serious dragon who can be a bit too stern at times. However, it all comes from a good place- though it might make a few hatchlings cry.

*************

He was born in the Viridian Labyrinth, like any nature dragon would be. As a hatchling, he was very whimsical and drawn to fantasy. In this stage of his life, he adored the night. He loved reading at night, admiring the stars at night, and generally doing anything when the world was asleep. It was so peaceful and quiet. He wasn't averse to others company, he just learned to love isolation.

Eventually, both his parents were sold. He witnessed many dragons get exalted as a kid and was told he would most likely meet the same fate. It was a harsh awakening to reality when one day, he looked around, to notice all his friends and family were gone. He grew to hate the Gladeskeeper. He heard about that name all the time. Gladeskeeper. How great they were. How without the Gladeskeeper, the world wouldn't be as beautiful as it is. All the dragons who left, his closest friend, his mom, his dad, did it for this cause- or so he reasoned. They all left him for these... these plants. He hated this 'beauty'. He hated the green, and he retracted even harder into the blues of the stars. He learned to love The Arcanist in his books... A complete chaos entity that threw off all these other deities. Now there's a guy who can get his way. A true dragon of dragons.

His focus shifted from fantasy to space. Whatever book he could find, any space information handy, you bet he read it. He even joined local arcane-inspired groups- but they weren't enough. Galaxy worked in a library for most of his career before sacrificing himself to the auction. He wanted a chance to meet other clans- even if it wasn't an arcane clan. Anywhere else could give him more than what limited means he had in the Labyrinth. He was welcomed into a clan in the Windswept Plateau.

Though he had issues with his nature roots, he couldn't ignore his conditioned fear to the plague dragon territory nearby. The fact that the Scarred Wasteland also buffered his journey to the Starfall Isles made him hate it even more. 'If only they weren't there...' He thought he held in his thoughts pretty well, but in his new clan, fellow dragons, especially young ones, knew him as the old grump who complained about plague dragons all the time. This attitude enforced his grumpiness, since it became expected of him. He was okay with it since he had a lot to complain about and being able to just let go instead of accidentally hurting a kindly dragon with his crooked manners was only for the better- or at least that's how he saw it.

Learning was going swell, especially since these clans had better access to arcane resources. He ran a bookstore, this time around. One day, a dragon came in to the store asking about information of the Labyrinth. Galaxy lead him to the section for nature and the two got caught up in a conversation about Galaxy's time in the Labyrinth. Amazingly, Galaxy found out this dragon was an old, distant friend of his who was sold very early in his life and was craving to learn more about his ancestry. As bitter a perception he had about the Labyrinth, Galaxy was just so excited to see a familiar face!

They shared more information about their early lives in the coming days, meeting up for a drink or two at local cafes. These sessions became pivotal to Galaxy's happiness, and he changed from the grump to the whistling, giddy old dragon, always with an optimistic thing to say. As they ran out of memories to share, they started talking about things they loved- current obsessions and hobbies. Then when that got stale, stories and lore. Then when that was old, they started eating out together and rating the local food. Eventually, they became best friends and there was less they did alone than together.

One day, this dragon took Galaxy to a shrine, where the dragon who took care of him was exalted. He said she was basically a mother to him since they were sold together and he was so young. When they got to the shrine, which was notably humble, Galaxy was triggered. He didn't know how or what, but something was off. Slowly but surely, he realized. 'Melody'- this dragons adopted mom- was Galaxy's birth mother. He knew dragons who were sold could go anywhere, and he knew his associations between the Gladeskeeper and his family and friends leaving was just a messy confusion that his child brain was struggling to comprehend, but even now, in his heart, he thought it was the Gladeskeepers fault- he thought she, his mom, was exalted. Seeing the statue here, thinking off all the stories his now best friend told him, she seemed more real than ever. He realized she was a real dragon. He realized how much he loved her. Galaxy broke down that day and stayed at his friends house for the night. He took the next week of work off as he worked through a heavy reconfiguration of his memories and emotions.

Within the week after, he was back at work. He didn't whistle or snap at dragons to be more gentle with the pages. No, he was totally normal. He matured. He started co-leading a local constellation group, and they even took trips to the Starfall Isle. He didn't fear the Wasteland as much anymore, but he still preferred avoiding it if possible. When he felt he had nothing left to learn, no more rocks to turn, he hosted the biggest, most heartfelt dinner for his new friends and 'family' before heading bitter sweetly to the auction house. He knew more about himself than ever and that included knowing that he needed to keep learning.

By luck, his next home was in the Starfall Isle. It was the perfect place for him, and here, he was finally given the formal name 'Galaxy'. His love for all things arcane multiplied- especially when he saw how well versed this region was for their books. He knew, that if there ever were a place he would stay forever, this was it.
