Kurui was born into a lavish life filled with wonder. Her mother was a wealthy merchant, her father a popular mage. The tales her father’s friends told interested her and she often dreamt of following such enticing and exciting adventures. She wanted to be a mage and merchant, travel the world to sell goods as she practiced magic. Her father noticed, played along and taught her some spells every so often, but it never progressed further. Kurui was sheltered from the real world. It was a dangerous place and not some story of grandeur and heroism.

Instead, Kurui decided to remain residing within her homeland. She took to the streets, using her magic to help the unfortunate, giving to the poor. People looked up to her, saw the kindness that shone so beautifully within herself. Kurui, in a sense, was worshipped as a saint. There was an unspoken rule among the desperate, to protect her. As she aged, the town changed, soon grew into a booming city. The streets began to grow dangerous. Kurui sensed this and with her mother’s savings that have been left in her name, she opened a bed and bath inn, free of charge. Although she is but one dragon, she promised herself she would make a difference and inspire those that are losing their hope.

The bell on the door tinkled and a red Imperial draped in fine silks looked up from the counter. She smiled, shuffling her wings as she moved around the counter to personally welcome the returning customer. Parts of her scales glittered with gold, her silks rippling like red water as she moved with determined grace. “Welcome,” She spoke softly, gently clasping the paws of the scowling Imperial before her. Her touch was soft, comforting, and welcomed. “How are you fairing, Mathias?”

The grey Imperial with a blue mane hesitantly pulled his paws away, rubbing his scales nervously. He was covered head to toe in old scars, but just above his brow was a split wound. Blood had trickled down and around his eye, crusting as the bleeding had slowed. “There was ‘nother fight… Couldn’t help myself, an’ I know you tell me to keep out of that business…” He looked ashamed, but brightened a bit when he noticed Kurui’s comforting smile.
“No, it happens. I know you’ve been trying your best. Why don’t you head in the back? I’ll be there shortly to clean you up. You’re welcome to stay the night.”

He marveled over her beautiful yellow eyes, nodding. “Alright… Thank you, Kurui.”
