”Wake up Bellerophon, it’s time for another day at Magic School!” said Bellerophon's mom. “More like another day of misery.”, replied Bellerophon, barely opening up his eyes and mumbling to himself, he was so sleepy and going to Magic School was the last place he wanted to go. Not only did he struggle but because he struggled, many others shunned him. Maybe today will be better, but probably not… was something that he thought everyday. Unfortunately for Bellerophon, being born a Fae dragon in his clan, he was expected to know magic and create spells. His final exam was only days away and the final test was to show off a spell mastered. Bellerophon, unfortunately, did not have any spells mastered. By the time the final exam was upon Bellerophon, he knew he was doomed, so winging it was his best option. The trick he decided to perform was an oldie, yet easiest- make an object disappear and reappear. When Bellerophon released the spell, nothing happened...the second try, the object was unaffected again, and the third time, the object became smaller. The third chance was the last chance. It was pure humiliation, and he became known as the worst dragon at magic, thus getting him kicked out. Dragons in Starhaven were afraid of dragons who could not harness the power of magic because it could be dangerous, once a dragon who was bad at magic turned the object into a dangerous monster which nearly killed every dragon in the clan. While being isolated from every dragon in the clan, Bellerophon turned to a new interest- sword fighting. But how did he get a hold of a sword, one might wonder? Well, he found materials to make one. A Fae dragon who used the sword was unheard of in his ex clan. But since he was no longer with them, no rules applied to him. Day after day, Bellerophon practiced using the sword and very quickly, he was getting really good with it. Maybe I could not wield magic because I was born to wield the sword!, he thought to himself. During isolation, he made friends with wild familiars, each helping him get better with the sword. It was not until he was ambushed by a flock of wild coven sent by Wildglade where Bellerophon's skills were put to the test. During the attack, a member from his ex clan spotted Bellerophon fighting off the flock and once the rest of the flock retreated, the clan member ran over to him. "Bellerophon, is that you? Are you okay!?" cried out the clan member. Bellerophon stood up proud, but exhausted from the fight. "Yeah, I am okay", he replied. "Come back to the clan, everyone misses you and I am sure that once they see your skills with the sword, you will be welcomed with open claws." "Are you sure? a Faes are not allowed to wield the sword", Bellerophon was so confused, he thought that any clan member was not allowed to speak to him if they saw him. "Yes, I am sure! Everyone misses you and think about you everyday!" Even more confusion was seen on Bellerophon's face, but he agreed and went with the dragon to the clan. Once getting to the clan, the dragon explained everything to the last detail of the fight. "I will think about it.", said the clan leader. After a few hours, the clan leader accepted and every dragon cheered. Bellerophon was so surprised how everyone was so kind and accepting. Bellerophon even was given armor and a sword, a real sword, as an apology. Upon accepting the apology and agreeing to be a part of Starhaven, he was chosen to be a part of the royal guard and Bellerophon accepted! This was such a high honor and he became the first Fae dragon to be a part of (let alone chosen) the royal guards. |
