Biography
NEEDS:
[Additional from the scribe Silas of the Gilded Feather. Many years after joining Mattin, Aria caught a stray egg in her haul. The egg had an unusual delicateness to it, like it was foggy and transparent, but it had survived the ocean's rough currents and so she built a nest proper for it. And the little hatchling from within she named Liandron. So the cycle continues.]

ARIA of the SILVER HUNT
☠ ♡ ☠ Even as Aria crawled from her acidic Plague egg, her eyes gleamed with a sharp and savage intellect. Her parents saw that she was larger and stronger than her clutch siblings, and took it for blessing from Mother Plaguebringer on their new clan. Aria's youth was filled with dangers in the flesh lands. She learnt to fight from the first teeth that grew in, and to defend her siblings from fighting packs of dragons and beasts alike. She hunted as a pack with them, leading them to success. She found old shattered weapons and memorabilia on the Wound and practised with them. Aria became the Wrath of the Wounded Edge. All who opposed her fell. All who joined her prospered. Her family grew, four strong hatchlings from the five eggs of her first clutch. Many decades she ruled over the Edge, until a day as pitch black as the darkest caverns and a blood moon rising. Beneath the red moon swept wings broad and spiked. A Ridgeback like no other landed on the Wound before Aria's den, and bowed its head, and spoke in a voice like a whisper of consciousness. "Known as Mattin, I have journeyed to treat with you, Blood Matriarch of the Edge." "And where have you swept in from?" Demanded Aria, for she could see the freshness of Mattin's scales and knew the dragon was no beast of Plague. "From far and close, Matriarch. I am a traveller who rests on shore and wind alike. My last landing was in The Source, and I have crossed the ocean in three days to seek you." This greatly intruiged Aria, who knew of the Lightning Source, and had heard tales of the Ocean, but had seen neither, for her territory was far inland and she had never strayed, except to take more land for herself. Mattin then produced a great crystal ball, intricate and endless, and explained this held a prophecy of strange and ancient beasts arising from the Terra and the Flesh beneath. It foretold great unrest and battles in bloodied plains. "I seek your aid, Blood Matriarch. You are revered as a fighter far beyond your territories. I have foreseen your death if you stay here, for the Mother will take all her children. The Wound will be your undoing. But I have a different path for you also. I have many acolytes, with brains but no brawn. You will be greatly rewarded, should you join me and teach them to defend and to hunt." Aria did not answer immediately. For a full two weeks, she allowed the strange Mattin to house in the clan, while she pondered. Her children had grown and flown to serve the Mother Plaguebringer, and her clan was prosperous. Her siblings knew the ways of command and would do well to learn to rule. There was nothing for her in the Wounded Edge. She was ready for a new challenge. |
