B I O G R A P H Y

Main Theme: Staying In

______ Vile is very gruff, he doesn’t talk much and prefers plants over people. He spends most of his time with Ivybreeze, his mate, and the only one who brings out the soft poetic side in him. Vile wasn’t taught to write when he was younger and is very self conscious of his bad handwriting.

I watch the rain on your scales
as it slides off them, catching my attention.
Your small smile brings me joy as
you watch me, watch you.

He is a hard dragon to love. He is rough and at times harsh, and a brutal negotiator, unafraid to threaten, bribe or blackmail others to do what’s best for those he cares about. He is stubborn and gets frustrated easily. Ivybreeze is extremely patient with him, and when he gets upset they are always nearby to smooth things over. Vile is a great lover of plants, and he has an extensive garden deep within the cave.There is a small spring, and a large gap in the ceiling allows sunlight to reach his garden. He and Ivybreeze spend most of their time there together, relaxing in the quiet coolness. He has very few children as he is very antisocial and easily overwhelmed, but he has a certain drive to get things done, which is why he was chosen as the Green Councildrake. Ivybreeze does take on a lot of his work when he’s stressed, and even though it troubles him that they do that they insist they enjoy it.

______ He sighed as he turned his green eyes up the shafts of sunlight streaming out of the hole in the ceiling. a few pebbles fell from the unsteady stone and pattered onto the ground around him and bounced off his head and wings. He grumbled in irritation and shook out his mane, distracted from the piece of parchment before him. On it he’d written part of a long poem, the words nearly illegible in his messy scrawl. Slowly, he rose to his feet, and stretched. “Ivybreeze?” he called, and listened for a moment. For a second, all he heard was the rushing of the groundwater stream through his small underground garden. “Yes Vile?” Ivybreeze called back in a soft singsong tone. He smiled slightly at his mate’s melodious voice, and made a mental note to describe it in a poem later. “Could you please find Bloodforge for me?” Ivybreeze took a minute before answering. “What?” they called. They must not have heard him clearly. He headed down the shady, winding path of the garden to their small living area, where Ivybreeze was reading, looped around one of the support beams. He smiled at them as he entered, and they set their book down to take his face in their small paws. “What I do beseech you doth for thee, mine love?” they purred, using the poetic Olde tongue. “Prithee findeth Bloodforge and bid i needeth to speaketh with that gent.” he answered, and Ivybreeze laughed and unwound themself from the column. “What do you need to talk to him about?” Vile sighed. “I need to get him down here to help design strong supports for the cavern. The ceiling is crumbling again, it appears I didn’t do a good enough job by myself.” They nodded their slender head and left.
