Cheesecake’s life was unlike any other dragonet’s. She and her brother hatched out of the nest, their parents standing proudly over them. As they grew up, they realized that they were being fed less food than the other dragonet’s, and they were constantly thrown into unfair fights. Copper would constantly protest, his body smaller and weaker than Cheesecake’s. However, that didn’t stop their mother from trying to toughen them up. Cheesecake could’ve never predicted what was in store for her and her brother. It all started a week into their birth. On a cold, misty morning, their mother lead the two of them to the coliseum. “Go in there.” she began, her cold eyes staring down at her children. “You both will go in there and fight until one of you dies. There’s no coming out until then.” Her eye’s widened as she saw Copper, his face twisted in despair when he knew he wouldn’t win. “Go!” she barked, pushing them inside. There was no going back now. Uneasily, the two shuffled into place as the first two monsters came creeping out from the darkness. Two Yellow Sparrowmouses crept out of the darkness, and it began. The two tried their best, one becoming weaker by the minute. However, Copper couldn’t hold on any longer, collapsing onto the wet soil. His lifeless body was sprawled in an awkward position, the sparrowmouses still out for blood. Cheesecake, scared and upset, twisted around and ran, her mother waiting. “Congratulations, Cheesecake. You live to see another day.” Those words will forever haunt her, her mother’s voice ringing in her head long after Aragai passed, snickering at her fears even on her deathbed. Her father, Wanderer, nodded at her sympathetically. “You must continue the trial.”
