Walpurgis' Essence
Walpurgis is a dragon with an eerie vibe. There are way she seeps into your mind and seems to pull the energy away from you when in her presence. Her eyes are hypnotizing and her voice carries like a whisper of mist on a foggy morning. She isn't a dragon of entirely pure intent, though she isn't completely evil. Some would say she belonged in the Shadow flight, as she's always playing games with others minds.
When asked about her time before joining the Gladepool Nurturers, she can't offer much. Her past isn't something she's proud of, but it is a part of her and she accepts it. She has not many memories of her hatchling days. Only one distinct picture of massive, crystal mountains from her homeland in Starfall Isles. After that, just the feeling of being lost.
Her hatchling self spent a deal of time wandering, which is what got her into the mess that changed her life. The poor female wandered too far on a gloomy morning and was stolen away by a Guardian female of Plague who had never been able to properly raise a healthy nest. The Guardian didn't ask questions of the little hatchling, only welcomed her to her flight and raised her as her own.
The mystery Plague clan, who's name Walpurgis never really remembered, was only good at one thing. Most of the time, they sent out parties of dragons to fight and thieve their living away from others. Living in the lands of the Plaguebringer was hard, but not impossible. Most frowned upon their ways, as they were familiar with at least a dragon or two in every region of the land. Walpurgis' mother was one of the best. She was swift and strong, taking advantage of helpless dragons with her size and trained prowess. Growing to a fledgling in such a way had twisted Walpurgis, making her just as uncaring and cruel as the rest of her clan. As she grew, it became obvious that her Arcane magic was much stronger than her physical fighting skills. The one death mage of the clan began to train her in magical combat, making her a fierce weapon of Arcane energy. Soon she would be ready to join her first raid, however, within the next few days she met a dragon who would help her see the error of her clan's ways.
As she had done as a child, Walpurgis was still known to wander off in exploration. Her Plague mother, just as her Arcane parents before her, had warned her against doing so. She was afraid that someone would steal Walpurgis from her as she had done from whoever hatched the little guardian. But wander she did, as she was now one of the strongest in her clan. She was careless and unafraid. Her heart took her to the edges of their land and along the borders of Shadow and Earth, where she finally stopped at the sight of a color she'd never seen before in her sickly land. Bright, leafy green, full and flowing in the trees that surrounded the Gladekeeper's territories. It was fascinating to her to see so much life in one place when her own home was so sick and rotting everywhere.
The closer she came to the borders of the Everbloom Gardens, she realized an almost magical cleanliness to the air surrounding the place. She took a deep breath and almost felt relieved to fill her lungs with the air of the place. Her eyes darted from the green grasses, the brilliantly colored flowers. She heard the crashing down of waterfalls in the distance and was suddenly aware of a real terrible thirst that filled her stomach. This new land beckoned her, made her hunger for the life of the place that she'd never see back in the Wasteland. As she took her first step into the blades of green grass, she was filled with wonder, ignoring her Plague mother's warnings against the "Land of Nature". How could someone want to avoid such a place?
She dug her claws into the fresh, rich soil and walked to one of the many streams, sniffing at the clean and sparkling water. Lowering her head, she took a drink, and then many large gulps after. This water was nothing like the pools back home. It felt reviving. In her awe of the Gardens, Walpurgis had not noticed the dragon who had emerged from the trees of the Gladeveins.
Through the grief of losing her only known mother, Walpurgis was lifted up by her new and dear friend, Eilo. The two grew quite close and have been ever since. Eilo is her rock. He stays at her side always to ensure that her violent outbursts, due to events from being raised within the Plague flight, don't bring any dragon to harm.
