Hello, there. I wasn't expecting to run into anyone on the docks that weren't part of the crew..well except for dock workers of course. You don't smell of the fish and ocean like they do so I don't think you're one. Oh, hah, excuse me. My name's Gruffles. I'm actually a sailor on the Crowned Thresher, it's a pirate ship. It's the one two docks over from here, see?
Hey, now, don't think of causing any trouble. I haven't done anything to you and I don't want to either but I don't look like this to be intimidating. We're just doing what we have to and then we'll be going our own way, however, if you really want to stir something up and try and get us to leave go and speak to the captain.
His name's Captain Blacktide, he's somewhere in one of the taverns I think although every once and a while he looks through the auction house itself. I have to warn you though, he doesn't really take too well to being asked to leave and to be honest, if you do intend on making trouble with him, then we will have an issue.
He's the one who made me a pirate, you know. We used to pretend back when we were young...except we were the good dragons back then. We fought pirates and sailed the seas with nothing to fear. Then something happened to him...
The clan turned him into a pirate because they didn't want him around so he turned into what they wanted and in turn, he turned me into a pirate. That's alright though, I like it. We take what we want with no one to tell us what to do!
There is killing though. Clans don't like us taking things from them so they fight us and we have to kill the ones that get in the way. It's exciting! I don't use a sword though, I use these claws and I sharpened all of my teeth, shee? See, you have to be quick and when a dragon runs at you, you have to wait until the last moment to side swipe them and these claws help a lot. I don't remember too many dragons that have escaped them and-- Hey, where are you going?

From hatching to adulthood, Gruffles spent his life with the only dragon that showed any real care in him: Vesper. The two were inseparable the moment the wildclaw first came within range of him. For most clans it would've been a great story of two friends that made positive waves but Vesper led the two further from that than ever. Where Vesper responded physically against verbal and physical abuses, Gruffles laughed. He handled everything with little care unless it involved his friend. After Vesper injured one of the dragons in the clan they were growing up in the pair left. The adventures they had in their imaginations were formerly heroic but had become the opposite and reflected in the cold reality they existed in. Gruffles spent much of his time covering up the messes Vesper made though they'd stayed only briefly in one other clan before becoming pirates. While most dragons thought that Vesper protected Gruffles it often went claw in claw. When Vesper insulted the wrong dragon or placed a claw in the wrong place Gruffles would quietly resolve it. After Vesper became captain it was Gruffles he elected as firstmate which gave the tundra more flexibility and leverage than he needed to make sure his friend was protected and wouldn't be overthrown any time soon.
