Where better to venture than the Arcane dominion to pursue magical knowledge. While some dragons as welcoming to those willing to learn there are many that will not reveal their secrets so easily. There were rumors, a master of potions that lived within the twisting vines of the Starwood, one that would only bring in those that could see her path. It was a lead. So Delta began her search, bravely venturing into the forest that claims so many lost souls.
It felt like days, maybe even weeks. Time seemed to move at it's own pace, particularly when night fell and forest stars twinkled. The soft light blue flowers seemed to glow in the filtered moonlight. After so many nights of the same darkened branches and now familiar stars something changed. There was a light, different from the shimmer of flower petals that floated beyond a thicket of bramble. She grew near to the light and discovered a small floating ball of blue fire that danced as Delta approached. A will-o'-the-wisp. It bobbed in the air, dancing along the breeze before fading. Another flame brightened ahead, revealing a soft path snaking through the woods, the spirits acting as her guide.
The small clearing she entered had a tree larger than the ones surrounding it. An opening was carved into the trunk, the interior unlit by the floating spirits that lead Delta to this place. As she approached the tree two eyes opened, revealing a glowing blue similar to the flowers that filled her path through the woods.
"You seek knowledge young one?"
The voice broken through the soft hum of native life, the soft bubbling of a creek after rain fall. It spoke with purpose, wisdom resonating in the undertones.
"Yes." Delta responded, excited to find what she had been looking for.
"Knowledge is earned, those that give it away for free are fools. You made it this far. You may be worthy of my time."
A dragon emerged from the shadowed trunk, glistening silvers and blues, wings dipped in fairy light. She had Delta tell her story, watching the sorceress with intent. Her story was familiar, Azamerthe's own daughter having set out on her own path of discovery only moons ago. She took Delta under her wing and allowed her to learn from some of her studies. She was taught the mixing of powerful potions and warned of the dangers that came with them.
"Magic can have a price. No matter how skilled we become the folly of a mage is confidence. The moment you believe you are beyond laws is when you become swallowed in chaos. Take this words with you, be safe beyond the stars. Now sleep."
Delta remembers falling to rest within the darkened clearing but it was sunlight that roused her from slumber. Green grass brushed against her nose and it was bothered by the ocean breeze. The starwood began several yards away, less ominous in the morning light. How long her travels within were unknown, but it seemed the lessons within had reached an end. Delta stretched her wings, gave a shallow bow towards the tree, then rose into the air to begin the nest run of her journey.
