Vampire || - || The Traitor, Bringer of Justice (self-appointed)

~ Star Op Notes ~

Opportunity: Vampire's always made me SUPER nervous, he just has this air around him that tends to put me on edge. No one else but my co-founder seemed to notice...

As you stroll into a town, you notice that the streets are eerily quiet, a layer of dust covering your surroundings as if they had not been touched in a long time. Your talons create prints in the layer underfoot as you slow, eyes darting to the shadows lurking in the doorways and overhangs.

"Hunter!" Your voice echoes as it rebounds back towards you. "Your reign ends here. I will not allow you to-"

A sharp pain comes to your head, and as you crumple, you think you see a flash of red. "I know you're there!" You struggle to keep the pain out of your voice. "I tracked you here. There's nowhere left for you to hide."

A flutter of wings cause you to whirl around, talons extended. But it's only a parrot, its bright colors at odds with the dark surroundings. "What are you doing here?" You say, relaxing your guard as you walk towards the bird. "Are you here to catch the Hunter too?"

You shake your head as the parrot doesn't respond, staying completely still except for its gaze, which tracks yours with a vicious gleam. You shiver and step away, suddenly nervous as you continue on your way towards the dark spire in the middle of the town. If the Hunter was anywhere, it would be there.

When you reach the spire, a cold wind wraps around you, its whispers carrying warnings of a darkness. "Hunter!" You try again, the silence both boosting and sapping your confidence. "Come out and face me like a true dragon would!"

A swish that could only be described as the sound of a cape lands beside you. You leap sideways, planting your talons in the ground in a fighting stance. Before you is a night-clothed figure, head lowered with a Red-Tailed Boa around its arm. "Who..." Your voice fails you as you see the bird skull topping each shoulder, the banner of a long beaten foe wrapping around the figure's wings.

"I see you recognize my armor." The figure smiled, a quick slash of white against a sea of feathers the color of dark blood. When at last they raised their head, you reel back in horror.

"I am the Hunter." The Hunter stares at you, gauging your reaction. You shake off your shock as you hold up your weapon. You've trained all your life for this. You won't...you can't fail now.

"I hope you're ready to return to the hell you came from." You snarl, and the Hunter starts to laugh. "Your mission is futile." They say, almost gently. But you know it's just a trick. "Turn back."

Your response is to grip your weapon tighter, and charge. The Hunter disappears, reappearing behind you. But before you can turn, the parrot appears, its bright feathers melting away to darkness. In its place...

"I should have known." You growl, staring at the Tatterwing Carcass perched next to the boa on the Hunter's arm. The Tatterwing Carcass only stares at you, and you recall the legends of the birds as you remember that the Tatterwing Carcasses could spend weeks in one spot, waiting for sickly creatures to succumb so that they could feast.

The Hunter doesn't respond, stalking nearer and forcing you to step back. "Are you ready to die, little one?" Their voice is soft. "Are you ready to give up your life for nothing?"

"Killing you is not nothing." You say defiantly. "You are a blight on the land, and I have come to save my world from you."

The Hunter's gaze is piercing, as if they can see right into your soul. "You do not know who I am, or what I have endured." Their voice has pitched lower, darker. "So trust me when I say that it was not my choice."

You roar and spring forward, hoping to surprise them. But instead, you tumble to the ground, the Hunter disappeared into the wind. But you think that you can hear their voice one more time as you brush the dust off your scales.

"Forgetting can be a blessing." You say into the wind, the town once again silent as death. "But I will never forget your evils, and I will hunt you down. You will be brought to justice, and pay for your crimes against the world. And I will be the one to drag you in on your knees."
