As the shadow dragon he is, Forsaken is a gambler. He once pushed his luck too far and his tricks to win a game were discovered. His opponents weren't to happy, since they lost a huge amount of treasure to the trickster and Forsaken decided to run for it. He somehow managed to escape to the water realm where he found the Golden Crests. He already had lost is treasure due to other gambling stops on the road and he was in need for food and a place to stay. He decided he was going to stay with the Golden Crests to see if there is anything of value in there vault and within the right moment, he would disappear - with the treasures of course. Since he is a skilled herbalist the Fae queen accepted him and ordered him to take care of River, a blind pearlcatcher. Although there wasn't much he could do about the blindness, Forsaken knew some herbs to reduce the amount of visions she received, so that River was able to take part in the real world. All the work and time with River, introducing her to the world and understanding her visions and different way of thinking he soon realized he had forgotten about the treasures.

He was happy living with the Golden Crests. But eventually his past caught up with him. While he was gathering herbs for River at the edge of the tangled woods, he was spotted by one of the dragons he tricked of their treasure. The old grudge long from forgotten, the angry dragon captured him and took him away. Against all odds he was saved yet again by a Fae. It was a few days after his capture. The little dragon heard his pleading and blinded his captors with magic and helps him escape his predicament. He thanked the little dragon, who immediately offered him a place to stay. Even though he couldn't believe his luck to be offered a home yet again, he needed to get home and back to River.
When he finally arrived he couldn't believe what he saw: The lair was nearly empty, the queen just a ghost of her former self. Marigold approached him and told him of how the queen fell apart after her mate left and most of the former clan left the lair, leaving the Crests in shambles. When he asked about River she could only tell him that she was still missing.
Broken hearted he left the territory of the water flight, seeking refuge between the foggy trees of the tangled woods once more.

As if on cue the small Fae reappears saying she wanted to check on him. Seeing his distress she offers him a chance to come with her again. This time he agreed. If things would have been different he may have been impressed by the sight of the bustling fair in the middle of the murky woods, so many gullible dragons just waiting to lose all their treasure. But in his current state he didn't even spare it a glance. He met Archmage, who agreed to give him a home as long as he needed to. Not knowing what else to do with his life he went back to being a herbalist. Rose, the little Fae who helped him, visited him from time to time, growing more worried about the apathetic Coatl with each passing day.

Some days Forsaken likes to take walks to the beach to clear his head. On one day he noticed something different. A small blue Fae lay in the spray of the waves, shivering from the cold. As he got closer he recognized her pattern and colors and the way the little one twitched and stared into nothing was all too familiar to him. He found Rivers child. Overwhelmed with relief that his beloved River was still alive and well he turned to the small lost hatchling, calming her down and asking if she needed a place to stay. He took the lost girl into his care, bringing her with him to the fair to raise her as his own. Soon after Rose came to him with a Tundra and a Wildclaw in tow. The Tundra marveled at his skill as herbalist and begged to become his apprentice. Since little Galene seems to have taken a liking to him he agreed without thinking twice, welcoming Eito into his home.
