Tereus was the first, and so far only, egg successfully born by the monarchy of King Hades and Queen Persephone. His arrival was a long-awaited occasion held by many dragons within the Clan; none more-so than his own mother. Even before the Imperial ever broke his shell the Queen showered him with love. The only words that left her tongue back then were praises and high hopes for her son's future. Hades, on the other hand, grew further away from Tereus each day. He felt there was something off about the hatchling.

The King's instincts proved valid as his child grew. Steadily, the more that Tereus was able to move and speak the more some dragons wished he hadn't. Everyone soon came to learn that he was fascinated by death - some would say obsessed with it. Instead of playing, sparring, or studying, the young Imperial spent his time dissecting the creatures others brought back as food. It started off small, perhaps even harmless, but grew more unsettling by the day. What began with tiny, dead mice soon evolved into struggling, living subjects.

By adulthood he had established himself as a master of anatomy regardless of the species. Insects, fish, mammals, even Beastclans. It didn't matter. But still it wasn't enough. The Queen's refusal to give up on Tereus' twisted mind is what saved him from boredom; with the status of "Prince" he now had access to tools previously withheld from him. Prisoners of the Clan, dragon or otherwise, were now under his jurisdiction to do with as he pleased. This brought with it countless new opportunities on how the Imperial could access death. Which is the quickest. Which is the slowest. Which is the most painful. And, of course, his favorite, just how close he could get before the soul actually flickered out.

Truly he is an expert when it comes to killing. Though not the most physically strong, Tereus is apt to outwit. His poisons could take down the most stout of Plague with a single drop while being harmless to a hatchling. He could kill an Imperial with merely an inch-long needle jabbed into the right place.

The Prince sees others as variables to be solved or used rather than equals, though he can play the part of a socialite well enough when needed. It seems the only beings that actually hold any real leeway against Tereus are the Emperor, Angeline, and oddly Nymph. Only during their say-so will he halt what he is doing or drop the act. Thankfully, none of them have derailed him from his purpose. The great Bloodrise even sends him lovely "gifts" from time to time.

The mixture was at a rolling boiling, filling the small room with intoxicating fumes. The thick fog clung to everything as it danced and wafted about, stirred only by a single, repetitive breeze. The glowing coals added to the gloom of the stifled air, illuminating a silhouette with each pulse of its dying life. The twin orbs of said shadow stared into the flickering red glow with the same, eerie likeness.

The Imperial shifted, unsettling the chaotic dance of the smoke into a maddened frenzy, but he paid no mind. He cared little for the complaints of the waning coals as he pressed on a bellows, breathing new life into the dying light. The sudden rage sent the foul liquid into a bubbling fever, adding the hiss and cracks of the embers below. The burst sent light into every corner of the room, lighting the many shelves lining the walls and the contents of so many vials.

In one corner, a limp form lay. Only for the briefest of moments, one could make out the still form before it vanished with the light. The air still once more, and only the steady breathing of the massive Imperial kept the fumes in a dance. The only sound was the gurgled contents of the pot over the hissing coals.

Again the room was nothing more than that when a knock sounded just behind the beast. He didn't move, nor spoke, only continued to stare into the bright wavering light. A tempered voice called for the male, though, pulling him out of his thoughts.

Slowly glancing over his shoulders, the Imperial glared at the smaller, lesser dragon with utter disdain. "What..?" The obviously unsettled Tundra shuffled her tufted paws under such a gaze, "E-emperor Bloodrise has more g-gifts for you, my lord."

Now the carmine beast's expression changed from aggressive annoyance to feral intrigue. He turned his whole form to look squarely at the furred dragon. "Good, good. Just set them over there. Oh, and would you be so kind as to remove that from my room? Thank you."

The Tundra did as was bid, setting the small, clinking package to the designated corner before creeping with much apprehension to the indicated form. The Imperial was no longer paying attention to the other as she gasped, nor did he care when she whimpered so faintly, or even the sound of a body being dragged across the floor. No, all his attention was placed back on the coals and the boiling pot above. His insane mind rolling just as the liquid he so cared for.
