Biography

Ink
- The mute Librarian
"The written word is superior to the spoken word. No babbling, but facts that will reach even dragons in the future..."

Ink had always been a loner, never able to get along with others. Her disability to speak had made her an outcast in all societies she's been in so far, and eventually she just grew tired of trying to fit in when she clearly didn't. She was always ignored, an outcast. Having no connection to other dragons, one day she started to watch them. She watched them, and memorized what they did, why they did it and when. Eventually she reached a point where the amount information grew too large and she started to forget things. That's when she decided it was time to write them down.
She was cast out by her last clan for being a "stalker" after they had discovered her writings. Fearing her being a traitor who collected data for a different clan, they sent her away. (And because, well, the mute dragon lady collecting all their personal information was freaking them out.)
From that day on, Ink refused to try again and just wandered the Windswept Plateau. She watched clans fight and truce, watched dragons kill or fall in love, watched them hunting or sleeping in the sun. And she wrote it all down. She couldn't carry all of her notes around with her, so eventually she settled down in a lonely cave, turning it into a library.

Ink's backstory with this clan is a little unusual, and a little funny too... she quite literally got blasted into it.

A fly landed on the open fangs of the Janustrap, immediately sticking to the surface. Apparently realizing its mistake, it began buzzing, trying to get off the carnivorous plant. Ink watched in silence, while the Janustrap smoothly closed its fangs around the fly. A few minutes passed, and the buzzing stopped. Ink checked her Pocketwatch and noted the time the janustrap had needed for closing its fangs on the scroll she had enrolled in front of her. She waited patiently for the ink to dry before she rolled it up again and put it back into the scroll case she had brought with her. After attaching the writing feather and the little inkwell to the case aswell, she streched her wings and jumped off the tree she had been sitting on, gliding to the ground - leaving a fair space between her and the Janustrap.
Quickly, she zigzagged her way back out of the forest, avoiding all the dangerous plants she had already studied. Just right at the border of the forest was an odd rocky formation, which she had to climb or fly over every time she went here. Just like she had done oh so many times already, she jumped slash glided from rock to rock, aiming for the quickest way through. Just when she was in the middle of a jump, she suddenly hear a voice, calling: "Oh god- WATCH OUT!" Something struck her in the side, throwing her off-balance. She fell - not too far, luckily - between two rocks. A little dizzy from the fall, she pulled herself out of the gap, shaking her head. The noise of flapping wings approached, and suddenly a male fae, barely taller than herself, gracefully landed on one of the rocks she was holding onto. "Are you alright miss? My apologies, I didn't know there was anybody out here. I should have checked before practicing my wind spells" he stated, reaching down into the gap. She grabbed his arm and allowed him to pull her out completely. Her body hurt a little, but it was merely some scratches. She tilted her head at the male fae.
His Body was colored a bright orange and his wings had the color of a clear summer sky. An aura of warmth surrounded him, just like a warm breeze, which also seemed to carry the 3 orange lanters around him. He wore odd garments, the colorful textiles even covered his eyes. As if reading her mind, he pushed the face cover up, revealing two shiny light green eyes. They almost seemed to glow. "You're not much of a talker, it seemes?" he asked, tilting his head aswell. Ink just silently shook her head, frowning. Something about this fae was oddly charming. Not in a romantic way, but he seemed calm and friendly.
He blinked twice, then jumped. "Where are my manners! i totally forgot to introduce myself. I am Nova, one of the leaders of a clan which just settled down not far from here a while ago. Nice to meet you" he said, even making a quick but elegant bow. Ink just stared at him, bewildered. How should she tell him that she couldn't talk? Then she remembered her scrolls and writing tools. She reached under her cape - they were gone. She started to look around frantically, startling Nova. "Is something wrong?" he asked, looking around too. A reflection caught Ink's eye and she stared down into the gap she had fallen into earlier. Her scroll case was effectively jammed between the rocks at the bottom of it. She climed into the gap again, Nova's curious gaze on her back. Somehow, she managed to hold herself between the rocks with her legs and she reached down into the gap as far as she could.
Her claws barely touched the surface of the scroll case.
She let out a frustrated growl, pulling back her arm. With a little twisting, she was able to extend her tail into the small gap and wrapped it around the case. She pulled, and the case moved an inch upwards before getting stuck again. "May I help?" Nova asked. She looked up at him, and he shrugged. "I can get that scroll case out for you. Just stand back a bit, would you?" She climbed back out of the gap, sitting onto the rock opposite to the one nova was still sitting on. There was a strong gust, the sound of howling wind, and then the scroll case got catapulted out of the gap with a screech that meant there would be scatches on it now. Ink caught the case before it could fly to high up, and immediately pulled out an empty scroll. She snatched the feather and the ink well, almost dropping it in her haste.
My name is Ink. Nice to meet you. I am mute so unfortunately I can't talk with you.
She passed the scroll to Nova, who curiously read it. "Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you couldn't speak. Do you mind me asking what you were doing here?" Ink shook her head and he handed back the scroll.
"I live in a cave just out of the woods. I currently study the flora and fauna of the forest."
"interesting" Nova commented after reading it. "I'd love to read your notes one time" he hummed. "I like learning. Although I usually specialize in more magical topics." He handed back the scroll. "You live here all by yourself?" Ink nodded. "Would you like to join our clan? Of course, if you prefer being alone, you can do so. I respect your decision either way. But I would love to have another dragon around me who loves research. You would be a great help!" Stunned, Ink stared at him. She looked down at the scroll, unsure about what to answer. Would that end just like all the times before? But Nova had been the first dragon who didn't seem to care at all about her disability. He talked to her just like he would talk to any other dragon, he just patiently waited for her to write her answers down on the scroll as if nothing about that was odd. She glanced at him. Even now, he was just patiently sitting on the rock, his decorated tail wrapped around his legs, the three lanterns swirling in his breezy aura.
Trying couldn't hurt right? She turned back to the scroll.
"I'll come with you."
Nova's face lit up when he read her answer. The three lanterns swirled stronger, it almost looked like they were performing a dance. "Great!" he exclaimed, giving her back the scroll. "Welcome to our clan! If you need help moving in our territory, I'm sure we can organize something. Judging by the amount of scrolls you carry around with you, you probably have a lot more." Ink just nodded again. "Maybe my daughter can help you with that too. She's a great flyer. Just don't let her carry anything... fragile." Nova unfolded his wings and leapt into the air. "Come with me! I'll introduce you to the others. I'm sure they'll like you!" Suddenly nervous, Ink followed him, hoping they REALLY would like her.

She won't be disappointed.
