There's a a balance in the shadows
There's a darkness banished by the light
There's a divine force watching
Keeping intact all our rights

There's a balance in the shadows
There's a goddess in splendid white
Her eyes blaze with the truth she knows and see
As she gazes from otherworldly heights

Often does she watch over all
The world's balance she understands
She sees everything that happened; will occur
And she rules them with a fair hand

She's the entity of integrity
No immortal power can match the truth
Power can raise and fell kingdoms
But a single secret can make hearts move

Yet as bright as the truth within her
Scarcely does the goddess descend
For the sun only needs to shine from above
To drive away the darkness in this land.

And so she passed on her light
To the Judge that treads beneath her
By her decree it's him who decides
Who goes to the Executioner

And the Judge is a broken dragon
A priest of a god long gone
Before drowning in the depths of his sorrow
She gave him a reason to go on.

The truth, she told him, was more divine
Than any power mortals could defy
"The gods will forsake you, I will deliver you
"By the truth, you will be purified."

And on that very day he took on her mantle
And sat himself down on her gilded throne
To speak the word of truth to all who come
And to rule all their faults and bygones

The goddess' will is instilled within him
"The word of the divine has spoken to me."
He pardons those who are innocent
And condemns those deemed guilty

Candour is the greatest trait
Or so he raises all to believe
There is no fear if you are truthful
For the greatest evil is dishonesty

And the only dragons who tremble before him
Are those with secrets they wish to hide
But try as they might, they can't conceal
Their untruths from his piercing eyes

And those dragons are doomed to darkness
Death whispers comfort in their ears
For only demise awaits them
And the end exposes all their fears

But the Judge is protected divinely
He sheds not a single drop of blood
For the third of the Triad watches over him
And takes to the blade better than he could

For only darkness can deal with the dark
The Executioner bears the weight of the scarlet ledger
To keep blood from staining the Judge's heart
He's willing to play the part of the reaper

And the Executioner is a ghost of a dragon
A soul with all hope begone
His life is devoted to the goddess
His destiny in her claws belong

He's given up all hope of remaining
Having taken up the cold steel blade
To lay to rest the untruthful
And before the sinless stay his hand

He walks the path of darkness
A gloomy but necessary road to exist
He does his duty without flinching
He slays all those the Judge sentences

A closed heart, a vanishing soul
He chose this path, and he walks it alone
Graced with speed, embraced by strength
The burden of death he fears not to have borne

And rumours are whispered about him
Angry threats directed at the deaths
Accusations of not caring
About a dragon's last breath

And though his blade is bloodied
His soul is pure and uncorrupt
He does his job because no other will
He brings death swift and abrupt

Even now the Executioner is dying
But even so his blade loses not its light
For conviction drives his movements
And it sustains him to do wrong, but right

The Judges rules fairly from the heart
