Some say that the vestiges of the past are only memories of an irrelevant time, a time where survival was predominant over cultures, and cultures, overpowering relationships. At least, that's what the resident archaeologist had been told on his expeditions, heading out from his beloved Dragonhome with a pickaxe in hand and the power of the earth at his clawtips. Canton, however, realized that dragonkind didn't always see eye-to-eye on the matter of archaeology. Despite those differences, though, he seeks to bring to light the past's fruits, and study them, 'til death he does part.

It's not a strange occupation, where he hails from. The knights, holding prestige and endless stories of war and glory in their souls; the sages, keeping the clan protected from any threat that dared encroach 'pon their territory. The kings and the queens, as kind as they are powerful, sitting atop a throne of rubies and decreeing their devotion to the soil and the boulders and everything their father had left for them. The gentle archaeologist was meant to be one of the latter, taught proper poise and posture and all sorts of tremendous little things ever since he first caused the shell of his egg to crumble into dust.

Some things do not work out as intended- for fate does not work that way, and protecting yourself from the past is first and foremost.

The library of his home is vast, full of knowledge compiled over centuries of study. It was one day, after his routine studies, that he found himself sneaking into the 'restricted' section. Full of boring, boring tomes, about generations of the royal family and their loyal retainers...but the further back he went in the lineage, the more physical changes became present in his ancestors and the ancestors of his friends, the more archaic the writing became, the more it intrigued him. Canton, definitely, found thinking about the possibilities of what happened much more interesting than the subjects of alchemy and astronomy, no matter how he adored both in their own rights.

The young prince went to his parents, and, indeed, the whole lair, with a proposition; he would pursue his newfound goal in life for a period of time, but come back to visit in case of any royal duty he would have to take on. Unlikely, considering how he was one of the younger siblings, but still possible nonetheless. They agreed to it, and bid him farewell after he gathered up his belongings and journals.

Now, he resides in the Talisian Centre, for the Starwood Strand has always brought mystery with it- where do all the bodies of those lost go, and what artifacts might be lost in its endless reach? As long as the jewelry adorning his body continues to ring in the calm night and another guard travels alongside him, he is free to explore. After all, a dead prince is no prince at all, yes?
