Chhaya

It was late at night in the lair when there was a knock on the giant rock that serves as a door. It was faint, but loud enough that Anansi was able to hear it in his nearby quarters. The sleepy Tundra clambered to his feet, groggily stumbled to the door, and pushed it open, but no one was there, or so he thought.

Anansi sighed at what he assumed to be a teenage prank and went to roll the rock back into place when he heard a small squeak. He looked down and saw a small Fae hatchling crying on the doorstep. She couldn't have been more than a couple days old.

"Well hello there" he said, in his usual soft-spoken voice. He could immediately tell from her bright yellow eyes that she was a Light dragon. Not a very common sight among the perpetual twilight of the Tangled Wood. "What are you doing here? You're a long way from home"

"Um.." the hatchling chirped, looking up at Anansi with tears in her eyes. "I got lost and now I can't find my mom".

Anansi reached down and picked her up, taking care not to crush the tiny Fae in his comparatively large paw. "Do you have a name?"

The hatchling looked at him. "M-my name's Chhaya" she whimpered. Anansi carried her into his room and gently placed her on the table. "Well Chhaya, if you don't have anywhere else to live, I'd be more than happy to take care of you" he said, with a comforting grin. The hatchling looked up at him, a smile beginning to form on her face. "You really mean it? Thanks mister!" Anansi laughed. "Please, call me Anansi"

Chhaya snuggled up to him, burying her face in his warm fur.

"I'm gonna call you Dad"
