Jack was born on the airship CASIOPEA MKII. He had a lot of older siblings to annoy growing up, and kept a good relationship with his parents through letters though they've become less by the years. He found life on the airship restrictive at times and flew the nest when he was a young adult.

He first settled down in a small village within Singer's Brook, where he apprenticed in the local brewery there. He made a pact with a local beaver (don't ask) to bring him fish and it ended up living with him permanently. He briefly had a fiancee before once again he felt restricted and moved, this time with a band of migrating dragons from the Starfall Isles towards a place called "Menireach Town". In this band of migrants he met his lover Ventaxia, making the most unlikely couple in Sornieth history.

During this migration the dragons were attacked with Jack sustaining heavy spinal and wing injuries. A frame was built to hold his weight that he wears for life.
