Amaterasu is very quiet, mature, kind, and gentle dragon. She is always aiding those in need, but also unafraid to show her opinion. She also is very intelligent. She gets offended quiet easily, and has a low attention span, which results in her falling asleep if someone explains something for too long, or if she already knows what is being explained. If she does not have to speak, she will not speak.

As a dragon, Amaterasu has rare abilities. By drawing shapes in the sky with her tail (using it like a brush) she can affect the world around her. She is most commonly known for raising the sun each morning by drawing a circle in the sky with her tail. She calls this technique sunrise. She also carries other abilities, such as being able to make flowers grow, creating trees, vines, and lillypads, as well as stopping time, making the moon, lightning, fire, rain, and wind. However these abilites are very limited to the space around her and they do not last very long.

The Paunchy Green Percher on Amaterasu's shoulder is her best friend and personal artist. She calls him Issun. The bird has strange powers which match Amaterasu's own at a far less powerful level. Due to her uniquely mysterious resemblance to a goddess of the before times and her strange powers, a Celestial Antelope has bonded with her to become her personal familiar. It is unknown when this creature bonded to her, she showed up in Draconequis clan with it and Issun beside her.

She is soulbound to a dragon who is the exact opposite of herself, Yami. They tend to not get along very well and are often seen bickering or fighting, yet despite this, they love each other dearly.

Amaterasu is often chosen by other clans as an example of beauty and grace.

Of course, Amaterasu has another side to the sweetness and purity. She can also prove to be quite wrathful, as she displayed when she caught Yami making a nest with Feyre. She cursed the offending dragon and Yami. She can be quite wrathful so it is probably best to be on her good side.
