Chapter 1: The Gentle Giant

Dragons born within the realm of the Plaguebringer, and thus members of the Plague Flight, are expected to be survivors. They are expected to be strong, ruthless, resilient. Little else can compare to those factors in terms of their priority among Plague Flight dragons. To uphold those harsh ideals is what is expected of each and every new hatchling. Unfortunately, however - or fortunately, depending on whose perspective you look at the situation from - the system is not perfect. Not every Plague Flight dragon is well suited to ideals such as those. Crux, from the very moment he emerged from his egg, was one such soul who was simply... different.

Crux was an incredibly bizarre case, by all accounts. He was neither strong-willed nor aggressive. Neither hostile nor competitive. But, despite not acting anything even vaguely similar to his Plague Flight kin, he steadily grew to a truly tremendous size even among the already-vast Imperial breed. He became shunned by his Flight in time, all of whom resented how he had been able to flourish without devoting himself to their ways. Steadily Crux became immensely lonely, with not a single soul to comfort him... until a mischievous Skydancer, Stephanie, took pity on him. She herself had more recently began to differ from her Flight's more traditional harshness and encouraged Crux to do the same. The two became firm friends before Stephanie left on her own adventure. Feeling as though doing the same would do him good, Crux set off on a journey with one goal in mind - to find friends who would be more accepting of him than the rest of his Flight had been.

Chapter 2: The Giant Today

____________________________
FpYGiAO.png
If you were to unexpectedly run into Crux today, there's every chance that you'd either run for the hills in an instant or simply become so frozen by fear that you can't bring yourself to move. In every way Crux is one of the most intimidating dragons at first glance than anyone could ever hope to meet. His crimson eyes give off an unsettlingly piercing glow. When he speaks his voice is so sinisterly deep in pitch that it rumbles the very ground beneath his feet, even when he tries to lower his voice to a whisper. He stands head and shoulders above a great many of his fellow Imperials, which is impressive given the already impressive size of the breed. By all accounts, one would think from a glance at him that Crux could snap any dragon in two or tear them apart with little effort if he put his mind to it.

Fortunately, however, violence is always the last thing on Crux's mind. Just as he was in his youth, he is unspeakably gentle and courteous. His manners and passive nature make him a surprisingly pleasant companion to have around once you get to know him. After a long time of wandering, however, he has finally succeeded in finding friends who are willing to look past his horrifically intimidating appearance. He encountered and spoke with a member of the Dunhoof Herd of Centaurs, with whom he developed a bond of trust and through whom he has been able to negotiate a pleasant alliance of mutual protection with the rest of her herd. Not only that but when he finally found a clan willing to accept him and allow him to settle there, he was delighted to find that his best friend from his old days in the Scarred Wasteland, that mischievous Skydancer called Stephanie, had also settled there before himself. Now Crux lives a quite content life amidst those who accept him, and maintains as good relations as he can with the Dunhoof Herd.
