Impheo

The clan's head hatchling herder, Impheo is in charge of the clan's hatchery. Usually, this just amounts to making sure Socks doesn't lead the other hatchlings on a mutiny to conquer the rest of the lair, but as hatchlings are responsible for keeping the hatchery clean and Impheo is responsible for the hatchlings, by the transitive property he's found himself picking up after the hatchlings as one of his many duties. He's not sure how this happened, and as an Arcanite he's pretty inclined to find a way around the transitive property, but that'll happen after he finishes cleaning up the hatchery, and to be honest, that's never happening.

Impheo is a very peaceful entity. Or, at the very least, he tries very hard to be, but when one's clanmates regularly turn into toads and explodes the lair and suddenly loses their age and poofs into hatchlings, it's a little bit hard on his nerves, mostly because the other hatchlings really do not need to learn anything more about the science of making things go boom. They really don't. He's getting so tired of walking into the hatchery to see that Pheonix's a hatchling again and is teaching the others how to set everything considered inflammable on fire, and whenever the hatchery catches on fire Phillip yells at him and Alanna yells at him and he can imagine that hatchlings learning how to be pyromaniacs will only result in more dragons yelling at him. To avoid that, Impheo's set up fireproof spells around the vicinity of the hatchery. It hasn't stopped Pheonix, of course, but at least there's a slight decrease in the number of fires, and Impheo's willing to settle for that.

Of course, not that fireproofing the hatchery does much. Impheo really wishes his clanmates would at least consider putting up protective wards when they do their experiment or start their dom rallies, because repairing the hatchery is getting really stressful, and it's hard to watch the hatchlings when the hatchery is falling into pieces at his feet.

Also, by the transitive property, he's responsible for preparing the hatchery, and some things just can't be fixed with duct tape.

When he's off-duty, Impheo likes to spend his time reading, preferably in a quiet, peaceful place where other dragons are also being quiet and peaceful. Thus, the library is a sanctuary for him, and he can often be found there reading with Fawkes and the occasional Lorien. He enjoys discussing books with Skysong, and sometimes he even tracks down missing items with her! Of course, this job is easy for him, mostly because anything shiny that goes missing can usually be traced back to Socks. Plus, you won't believe how much you can learn from hatchling gossip.

There's a joke that every time Impheo goes out for vacation, he comes back with a new permit. While that rumour isn't necessarily untrue, Impheo will go to great lengths in order to acquire knowledge. To the befuddlement of other dragons, he doesn't do this to blow things up, summon the Shade donuts, or tear apart reality as we know it. Nope, Impheo does this in order to teach other dragons. Ask him a pre-calculus question? He'll learn pre-cal and calculus in order to help you (two in one!) Have a problem with your plumbing? Give him two hours or two weeks and he'll come back with a professional degree. Impheo loves to spread knowledge and teach other dragons. However, while he doesn't mind doing all of that, he'd really appreciate it if his clanmates stopped bouncing off the walls and actually sit down for once to listen to his lectures. He loves them all, he really does, but dear god, they're all pains in the neck.

Of course, that doesn't mean Impheo is a pushover just because he's fond of his clanmates. As part of the required skill set for watching the hatchlings, Impheo is quite capable at both magic and physical combat, and is fiercely protective of his young charges. And he does take his job seriously. He's not above hurting an acquaintance in order to keep the hatchlings safe, and he has over sixty ways to make someone bleed with nothing but a poinsettia.

Islington found that out the hard way.
