Born in a nest of 1 egg, Nish has always been the center of attention. She was spoiled with anything she could ever want before she even knew what she wanted, and her parents constantly complimented and praised her. They draped her with fine silks and only the best jewels in Sornieth. She loved this lifestyle, and it was the only one she ever knew. So when her parents passed, she had to seek praise from other sources. She started to enter fashion shows and beauty competitions to fulfill her narcissistic needs, and for a while, it worked. When she looked out and saw the audience of star struck dragons that stared up at her, it filled Nish with happiness. But then it ended, the day when another dragon won. She couldn’t stand for second place, that someone else was more beautiful than her? More elegant? Better than her? She fled. She left the place she once called home and fled to the arcane domain, where she had heard of a sanctuary for dragons of all kinds. What she didn’t hear was that this was a podid sanctuary. Upon arrival, she immediately took distaste to the podid population. What was the use of these ugly beings? They should be in the mire, where they belong. She didn’t understand why the others loved them. As she observed the other residents, she noticed another coatl. She was similar colouring to Nish, having white wings and a white body as well, along with the beautiful circuit patterning. One of the other dragons, Amelia, noticed Nish taking an interest, and mentioned that the other coatl’s name was Oti. At the time, she thought it was quite a weird name to have. It didn’t take too long for Nish and Oti to start courting each other. They were perfect for each other, proving yet again the time old saying that opposites attract. She was materialistic and cared for her appearance a little too much. They were down to earth, enjoying the things that nature brings and not caring about looks rather than personality. They soon made their relationship official. Despite having all the things a dragon could want in life, Nish still suffered with night terrors. She would dream of the competition she lost, and in it everyone would laugh and mock her. They would corner her and grab her jewelry and tear off her beautiful plume, and then leave her alone, shivering in fear. She would wake up from the nightmare shaking in fear, a cold sweat coating her. The first time she had a night terror at the Sanctuary, a small podid named May walked over and sat down right next to her. Nish looked at the small podid, its eyes large and hopeful, and she suddenly knew why everyone loved them so much. She reached out towards the podid, and brought it closer to her, feeling it’s warm fur against her, and she relaxed. The two of them cuddled together for the rest of that night, and she had the best sleep she’d ever had. Nish has told no one about May, not even her mate. It’s her and May’s little secret. Nish still does not show any affection towards the rest of the podids in the company of other dragons, but she doesn’t show any hatred either. The rest of the clan counts that as progress. |
