Biography

Year 1:

Raziel started as a normal angel, living in heaven close to God. Then, one day, God tasked him with a purpose. God had decided that dragonkind was too sinful, and needed to be wiped out. However, he had selected two of the most virtuous dragons in the world to survive. Raziel was thus tasked with instructing and monitoring the two dragons, and took took it readily. On the way out of heaven he had to go through the gatekeeper, St. Peter's Dust, and in their travels the two fell in love. Together they conceived two children, on the way down to the material world.

After this, Raziel got set up with the two dragons, Benediction and Eucharist, and instructed them to build a fortress they named the Serpent. Every day, Raziel would give a new sermon about some new tenant of godliness. After a time, his kids were born- Cain and Abel, and although Cain was struck down by god Abel continues farming to this day, participating in the good, hard work that Raziel hears God loves.

Year 2:

One of the dragons who had fled to the serpent, Scholar, was a religious scholar who had dedicated her life to reading God's various texts. For some reason, she believed this made her more knowledgeable about God that Raziel, a literal Angel who'd been living by God's side for centuries. This has greatly distressed Raziel and, to his dismay, convinced most of Raziel's following to attend sermons by both authorities. Scholar really rubs Raziel the wrong way in general, too, but there are many bright spots, like Benediction, Eucharist, Napthali, Sabbath, Frankincense and Babylon

Year 3:

When Frankincense died, Raziel and St Peter's Dust began to argue on if it was supposed to happen or not. When Babylon was later struck down this divide widened. Raziel's commitment to God, however, was then tested a third time with the discovery of The Pit. The dragons in it did not seem to match any kinds of dragons Raziel was aware of, nor any civilization that God had ever before described. Raziel immediately moved down and began discussing culture with the Dusthide representative Sand. Sand advised him to try talking to Granite, but that would have necessitated leaving the Pit and maybe running into St. Peter's Dust, so Raziel continued staying down there.

Year 4:

After spending so much time in the pit, Raziel began to wonder about the extent of God's reach and knowlede. He hadn't known about the underground dragons... what was to say there weren't other things he knew about? Raziel spoke to Funace and Sand extensively, and both of them seemed to be very adamant that the underground dragons weren't evil. Raziel couldn't find any reason to disagree with them. And... maybe St. Peter's Dust was right, maybe Frankincense wasn't supposed to die after all. This conviction was cemented as soon as he heard about Mark's death- whether it was god, or Mark, or maybe even someone avenging Frankincense. Realizing he might have been wrong about something, he sunk deeply in a depression within the caverns underneath the Serpent. Oddly enough, the extra feathers he had had as a full Angel grew in, but they were the deep, dark green of the caverns instead.

He tried to apologize to St. Petersdust, but when he went to find her he saw she’d locked herself in the Ballroom. He tried to reconnect with Abel, too, but found him quite content under Napthali’s influence, and raising Issa himself. However, once Raziel returned to the Pit, he found Furnace and Sand struggling to find the time for raising their son, Glass. And so, Raziel happily stepped in, finding some semblance of the family he felt estranged from in the young dragon.
