About the Papilio

The papilio is a scarcely studied mutation which occurs randomly. Papilio effects the appearance, behavior, and diet of the host. Due to many papilo dragons being born Obelisks or Spirals, a consensus has been made that a female dragon somehow consumes a creature containing papilio and then passes it off to one or more of her offspring.
Though beautiful, the effects of the mutation are anything but. Considered bugs, mutated dragons will consume insects and meat as they please. This has lead researchers to believe that the parasite originates from a carnivorous, cannibalistic insect. Creatures effected by papilio also seem to be dazed, as if the mutation has stunted their brain growth.
There is no cure or relief for these dragons.
