Ratesshoku the chime
They/Them
Born on the day the moon obscured the sun, When their eggs hatched in the dark of the eclipse their parents saw it as a sign of bad omen and abandoned their kids all around Sornieth, as far as possible from the Shattered Plain; they all ended up in different places of the wind realm.
Ratesshoku wandered for about a day, then a weird dragon passed by, almost without seeing them, looking around and picking up materials; they slithered up to him and started pulling on his sash to get his attention.
The nocturne however, didn't want to have anything to do with them, and kept minding his buisness.
Ratesshoku, sad and confused, kept following and bugging him, until the nocturne stopped and started staring at him, muttering under his breath.
After some minutes the eyes of the stranger opened wide, and he took the way of the sky; the baby spiral started crying and calling out, scared to be left alone again, but the strange dragon wasn't coming back.
Ratesshoku curled up on himself, sobbing, his belly starting to rumble from the hunger; he was starting to fall asleep, when the nocturne appeared above him and picked him up.
Excited, Ratesshoku curled up on him as the Sea of a Thousand Currents first and the Tangled Wood after appeared under them; Yesivini slowly landed, taking them into a hidden lair.
As soon as they were placed on the ground, they started slithering around, while Yesivini talked to another dragon. They were still looking around, when the massive guardian Yesivini was talking to loomed over to look at them.
In the end he was placed under Yesivini's care, and they happily followed him to his den.
Ratesshoku didn't always spend time with the few other hatchlings that occasionally transitioned trough the clan, as they were busy learning magic from Yesivini; they loved the tricks he was teaching them and spent a lot of time practicing.
As a teen they had already learned most of the basic stuff and started looking to develop their own kind of magic, even getting somewhat better than their mentor.
When they reached adulthood they had mastered the art of shapeshifting, often changing their look according to their mood, both in breed, age and gender.
However wile growing up it became evident that he wasn't like other dragons, as his body never really grew past his hatchling size, as he reached adulthood, it became obvious that he's a dwarf.
Even if they are small like a baby, as the other breeds they get quite large; Ratesshoku favorite form is the one of a huge imperial, or even better a massive emperor, but they use that only to scare enemies away.
Ratesshoku is the "chime" of the clan, the others consider them to bring luck, especially when they're in a good mood; other than that they usually help Yesivini with his work and cooperate with Kanet in keeping the library in order.
