Seller of Light

spaceTrinket was born under the eclipse, where darkness ruled. It was the one day where shadows could usurp the control of the light, where natural order was reversed and deities were helpless to right it. The shadows spoke to hatchlings on that day, coaxing, tempting, spinning tales of all they would ever want if they would just listen to what they had to say. Children of the eclipse were dangerous, as parents were well aware. They had a vital decision to make - to cling to the light, or succumb to the calling shadows.

spaceTrinket heard the whispers. The bargains, the offers, the purported gifts. But she refused to succumb. In her yet young life, she had seen only darkness, but she committed herself to the light - to being the light. She would be the corona, the shining remnant that lived even when shadows reigned. She would ensure that, even in the darkness, a light would be found for those willing to seek it.

spaceTrinket was not a fighter. Not a powerful warrior, or a mage, or even one capable of serving the deities. She had but one skill to serve her mission. Trinket could speak to the light. Her lilting tones quietly, gently convinced it to stay here, with us. To be strong, to hold on until the dawn broke once more.

spaceTrinket guarded the light, kept it safe close to her body. Crafted glassware acted as a warden to the trapped rays - to the carefully protected, ever-glowing tendrils, illuminating the world, holding back the dark. She began to sell her wares to interested dragons, shoppers intrigued by flameless, enchanted lanterns over traditional candles and lamps.

spaceHer lanterns light up the night across the realm, though to her they are never just products - never just trinkets. They are a weapon against the dark, a barrier to the shadows that lurk when the sun sets or the moon obscures its rays. Her strands of captured light, worn with pride, are armor, and she is arming the people as well, weakening the hold of darkness globe by shining globe.
