‘A mind like a scalpel blade’ is what most would say of him if they felt like being poetically descriptive, but it's not entirely accurate. He’s cutting, yes, sharp, precise, but a blade is only as good as the hands that wield it and no one can direct him. Born to wealth but promptly ejected from its inner circle- it wasn’t really his fault that he was born to a prominent Light family on a total solar eclipse and has glowing yellow eyes that are light sensitive- ‘bad omens’ be damned. He supposes that also being among the middelest of children also helped with them scooting him gently aside, but he’s still sore about it and holds little love for nobility and Light in general. He could have just coasted along and proved them wrong but no. He met Sparks and followed her all the way to the middle of nowhere to set up shop, doing experiments and research, inventing new ways of reusing the barest scraps of nothing and making practical miracles from it. Could you make a water purifier with 5t, some scavenged metal, a box miscellania and a screwdriver? He thought not. He was also the closest Can Town had to a healer, a thing which instilled little sympathy in him aside from for Adeline, though he could perhaps write that off as knowing who’s good to keep alive. He has a deep scientific knowledge and one could say he’s especially good at his chosen profession simply because he’s relatively unhindered by ego or moral compunction. He takes no offense when something doesn’t work out and will try again. He’ll also say or do things that when most people hear or come across it will go ‘Uh, West? We shouldn’t do that’, like wondering aloud of he could take apart Weyland just to figure out how he works, or making a trap that consists of head-height sawblades. He’d probably be more your typical plague scientist if he wasn’t here, surrounded by people who will keep his worst ideas and impulses in check. It isn’t that he’s evil it's more that he’s...blank. It doesn't seem like he can help this-he genuinely forgets that things like 'friendship' and 'sympathy' exist and has to be reminded by those around him, usually Viltri. ▬▬ ADDITIONAL ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
