As unassuming as her namesake, Lichen is a quiet but studious soul who can often be found on her front porch with a tray of haberdashery on her lap, singing sea shanties learned from sailors as the waves lap gently under the decking. Dragons often visit her for alterations or repairs of their favourite apparel; while she sometimes takes weeks to complete projects, they know she will treat even the most ragged garment with care. There are few fibrecrafts she hasn't at least dabbled in over her long life, from spinning to ribbon embroidery - although she is most at ease with a needle between her long claws. Since she refuses payment for most repairs, dragons who make use of her services have learned instead to exchange her work for errands. The traders at Flotsam Town's rag market are well used to dragons arriving with shopping lists for Lichen, and visitors to her stilted hut are more likely than not to bump into someone folding her laundry or bringing her a jar of chutney.

When she isn't mending clothes or working on quilts large enough for Imperials, Lichen can be found at The Tea Café, sipping delicately at a camomile tea. She rarely makes conversation with the other patrons, but those who recognise her always greet her warmly - except for Haynesina, with whom she refuses to do business. Whatever caused their ongoing disagreement was too far back for any of the younger dragons to remember, and neither dragon will speak of it. Rumours abound of past lives of debauchery, of smuggled goods and jilted lovers… but it was probably just some misunderstanding about a casserole recipe that both parties are too proud to apologise for.
