Biography

The stunning skydancer flew high above the clouds. Then, just like every day since, she began to dance. it was a soft slow dance in the sky, her seagreen wings flapping ever so softly as she flew. As she twirled in the air she began to sing. Quiet at first, it grew as she hit the chorus. She danced faster and faster until her whole world was spinning. And she smiled.

The muscular imperial flapped his wings as fast as he could. He had to go higher. The harpies were right on his tail and he was too wounded to fight back. He was entering arcane lands, where he knew the harpies wouldn't follow. Out of the corner his eye, he saw them fall back. With a tired sigh, he landed/crashed onto a tree. There he sat, breathing and bleeding heavily. With his light green hide torn up, he was in no condition to go anywhere. He stayed there for a few days resting and healing. The last day, on the verge of sleep, he heard a soft sound. Singing? He knew not, but his curiosity was great. The imperial got up and flew towards the sound, even though his wings were still raw. When he broke through the clouds he saw, to his amazement, a dragon. She was petite, with beautiful green scales and black tendrils going up and around like vines. There he saw her, dancing and singing, with no care in the world. Normally the imperial would sit and appreciate the music, then leave, but he was captivated. Even when she left, he thought about her and her beautiful music. Every night for a week he would go up there and listen. Every night he felt the urge to go up to her, but fear stole into his heart each time. It was then that he knew he had fallen in a love so deep he could never break free.

The skydancer danced. She let herself become engrossed in her song. But she soon came back to reality when a huge green imperial broke through the clouds. He was actually quite small for an imperial but compared to her he was a giant. He stood there, winds flapping powerfully, fresh and old wounds covered his body. She stood as still as possible, like a frightened deer. Then, he spoke, " I heard your singing about a week ago. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Please, do not be afraid, I only wanted to know-" but she didn't hear anymore, for she was flying as fast as she could back home. She didn't tell anyone in her clan about the mysterious dragon. If her brother Earendil, found out, he would never let her outside again. The next day she decided she would go out and talk to the dragon. For she was just as captives about him as He was her. So she flew out to her dancing spot, and began to dance and sing. It was timid, for she was still scared but she kept a stiff upper lip . Then, she spotted him. Just his head was poking above the clouds, eyes fixed upon her with fascination. She stopped dancing and motioned him over. He slowly rose above the clouds, careful not to make any sudden. Movements. " what was it you wanted to ask me?" She said as she looked up at him. " your name." He replied " I want to know your name" she smiled. "Luthien. And what might yours be?" "Beren," he rumbled. She flew playfully a few feet away. "Well, Beren, do you like to dance?"

Months went by, and every day beren and luthien would fly up to their meeting spot. Somedays they would dance, and others they would just sit and talk. The two dragons were deeply in love with each other. Then, after luthien went home earendil came up to her. "Luthien, why is it that you do not ask me to come with you when you leave and play my flute?" Luthien replied calmly, because I need seen alone time and that is the I ly place I get it." Earendil was deeply troubled by this. "But you go up there all day every day, it's less that you need alone time but more you need socializing time. It makes me suspicious. In going up with you tomorrow." Luthien masked her worry. "Of course." She said.

As promised, the next day earendil followed luthien up to the clouds. Luthien figured she should tell him about beren before he saw him. When she did, he became very angry. When he met beren, he became even angrier and ordered him to leave. "I can't" bere. Replied calmly. "Why not?" Earendil demanded. "Because," he said, " I love luthien and I will never leave her side." "What are you implying?" "I'm implying that I wish luthien to be my mate." Luthien's pink eyes widened in surprise, and she smiled. "I won't allow it!" Earendil yelled. "Then what must I do to seek your approval?" Earendil thought for a moment. "Retrieve a feather from the great beastclan leader talona. Bring the feather to me and you have my approval." Luthien cried out, for she knew it was an impossible task. But Beren hushed her. "Hush Tinuviel." He turned to Earendil. "I won't give you a feather from her hide, I'll give you three." And off Beren flew. And Luthien cried.

I would give you a full account of what happened, but that would take too long. Beren set off on his doomed quest and through a series of events Luthien came to follow him. On many occasions luthien saved Beren, using the magic she possessed. When they finally reached talona's nest, luthien used her magic to put her asleep. The. Beren plucked three feathers from her wings. Talona awoke and tried to kill Beren, and almost succeeded. Luthien and beren then made their way back to earendil where Beren gave him the three feathers. The couple then left the clan, and joined up with morwen's water clan, where they reside now.
