 Vanir Makos | Door OperatorThe Knight / Tundra / Male "quote" Theme - Fields and Pier by Avriel and the Sequoias Vanir was born deep in the Viridian Labyrinth and spent the first four years of his life there until raiders attacked while trying to get to the famed goblin kingdom deep in the Labyrinth, forcing him and most others to small town to flee; although many left the scene unharmed, a few dragons, including Vanir, were deafened by one of the explosions. Some of the members of the town stuck together but most eventually split, leaving a group of about six together by the time they got to a town near the edge of Virdian. it wasn't quite close enough to be able to see the Tangled Wood but it would only take a few days to get to the path that lead down to the bridge into Shadow territory. When he was about twenty, Vanir found out that there was a knight's guild in between the town and the woods and, wanting to protect others from raiders and the like, became interested immediately. He started training himself to join despite his family's concerns and joined the guild a few years later. He was a member for only a few months before he realized that this was actually a group of thieves that didn't help anyone unless they paid first and stole from the dragons that wanted help if they didn't pay up. He left and started warning others about the guild soon after and, of course, the group found out and started making attempts to kill Vanir off as a means to protect their business and eventually one of the attacks, which consisted of a group of about fifteen assassins, overwhelmed the Tundra and forced him to run. The group was on his heels the whole way down to the Tangled Wood and chased him late into the night before returning to Nature territory. |

Vanir, too afraid to return, simply continued traveling farther away from the Labyrinth until he reached the Sea of a Thousand Currents and spent some years with a tight-knit band of beach Tundras until rumors of a secret town somewhere in the Shifting Expanse reached him and he started traveling again.
When he reached the canyon where the entrance to Skyhill was, he was greeted by Jareth, the goblin king and designer of the tunnels that led deep into the canyon wall and easily befriended the Pearlcatcher. He followed the king into the otherworldly city and made himself at home, taking up residence with Thane and Miroslav in their shack near the nearby lake. He works independently as a knight, only sometimes teaming up with one of the other protector types in the clan, and often leaves the town, causing him to become very familiar with the tunnels. He eventually also became the guide to Skyhill since Jareth tended to either scare others or make them too uncomfortable to follow him. |
