Shinobu is another odd member of the clan. She wasn't abducted by air currents. She wasn't wandering lost. She wasn't desperate, starving, or impoverished. She was, and still is, in fact, extremely wealthy.

But she is an outcast from her own kind. Tundras are a vegetarian species, and to see one of their own glory in hunting and trapping other creatures is uncomfortable for them. They find the scent of gore sickly, the sight of Shinobu bloodied from skinning her kills repulsive. Never mind the leather she brought them, so useful for their crafts. Never mind the soft, warm pelts that kept the winter winds at bay, or the bones to shape into tools and jewellery, the meat to be traded to other clans: Shinobu's hunting and trapping was disgusting.

Sick at heart, Shinobu left. Took her traps and her pelts and her riches with her, and went in search of a clan to warm with her furs.

She found it with the tiny clan by the sea.

They lived in a single big cave, roughly hewed from rock, with bare floors and bare walls and nothing but what they could scavenge, and they welcomed Shinobu and her gifts with open arms. They praised her skills. They admired her trophies. And they fed her from their tiny garden, played games with her, teased her, told her wild tales. Drew her into their lives. They made her rich in a way she'd never been before.

And so she stays with that tiny clan. Keeps them warm with her gifts the way they warm her with their love.
