"The progress of an artist is a continual self-sacrifice, a continual extinction of personality." *** Vaille has had a hard life. The past six years have seen his clan completely ruined and reborn. He never expected to be one of the only ones left. Moduran, Arahathan, and Acedia are long gone. Ivren, even more so. Everyone he knew has died or left. The grief has never left him and it's harder to sing than ever, but Vaille chooses to remember them with joy. If he can have nothing else, he wants his life to be sadness' bane. At long last, Vaille has become the leader of the clan. *** Vaille is a musician and Ivren's adopted son. He's begging his father to get him a lute, but for now he enjoys singing to the hatchlings. His favorite songs are half-remembered lullabies his mother used to sing to them. He hasn't told anyone, but sometimes he has bad dreams. He hears his mother yelling for him and his siblings to run and there's mist filled with bright eyes and crackling voices. He doesn't think his family escaped. Vaille tries not to think of his parents or the fate he feels they met, he prefers to keep a smile on his face and is generally known for his unfailing positive attitude. He's incredibly good with young dragons, able to act goofy and laugh at himself easily. You can tell he's having a truly bad day if you greet him and he doesn't immediately try to make you smile. Sometimes, on days he's feeling down, he will put himself to sleep trying to find new lyrics to finish the once familiar songs of his childhood. He spends a lot of his time with his friends Moduran, Arahathan, and Acedia. They work together to make music, poems, and plays to entertain the clan. They are really the only dragons Vaille feels comfortable expressing his feelings around. They were the only ones to stay with him the day Ivren joined Lightweaver's noble cause. *** Vaille's love for music was brought about early in life, despite what some may think he used to sneak away from his family a lot before the incident, he always sought out travelling performers. The first he met was a lute playing Wildclaw, from that moment he was inspired. The loss of his parents affected him deeply, guilt set in for a long time. But he still clung to the days he'd listen to any performers he could find. The connection of his mother's singing helped his passion grow and he kept seeking out those performers on occasion, even today. Bonus because I remember hearing about this bab in an old thread of mine and I gave him a lute ;-; One day he found something unexpected, the Wildclaw he knew from that first day. It seemed that she recognised him too, as she greeted him with a warm smile. They talked for a small while, the familiar presence was calming to Vaille. Eventually they went their separate ways, but not before the Wildclaw pulled out a lute from her rucksack, giving it to Vaille, she wished him all the best in his musical endeavours and walked off before he could say a thing. -blueberrypodoboo              |
