When she came to the clan, this dragon was holding an enegmatc scrap of parchement. The parchment detailed the lives of a clan now lost to time.
If only... there were a way to turn back time and find these dragons once more...

[OOC: Iosif was bought with this HUGE lore transcript already in her bio. I'd love to track down whoever wrote this one day, it's stunning...]

A long train of dragons were seen crossing the molten scar. They were as varied as any clan, and were a real mismatched group of individuals. The one thing they had in common however was the amount of fresh wounds that littered their bodies. Not one dragon was uninjured, and to any observer it may seem that we were driven out of their home. But reality was different. Their first offense loss was devastating, but no one could have predicted how deeply it would effect the division.
Eden led the long march home.He was one of the luckier few, and with Vivienne being as out of commission as she was, he took it upon himself to lead the others home. Those who were the least injured; Goldbrush, Deidre. They were tasked with carrying home the bodies of our fallen comrades. Eden reflected back on the journey they took only hours ago, a long the same path but headed in the other direction. The way back seemed so much further, so much harder. He let out a long sigh, which was caught by Duskrunner beside him.
“We did the best we could Eden, we all did.” He whispered to himself as much as to Eden.
“I know, but positivity won't heal our wounds, nor will it bring back the fallen.” Eden glanced back at the deceased. He winced as his gaze came upon the lifeless eyes of one of his own daughters. Duskrunner followed his gaze, and a pained but sympathetic expression overcame his face.
“No, the best we can do is give them a proper send-off.” Their conversation then lapsed into silence. No one else spoke so much as a word until they returned to their lair.
Upon their return they were greeted by the dragons who had not accompanied them. Their eager, welcoming faces fell as soon as they saw the battered warriors. A wave of horror and dismay came upon the uninjured dragons as they rushed to help those who were slipping. Many had only been minorly injured, but the long trip home had kept wounds bleeding and soon they to were joining their deceased clanmates. Eden felt guilt rush through him, as he stared down at all the comrades he could’ve saved by making the decision to talk to Vivienne, and prevent the battle at all.
His shame only increased when a small group of hatchlings poked their noses out of a den. It pained me to recognize them as the children of Mikaylah and Prion, both of whom had not made it home from the fight. They, like many of us were eager to fight and had left their eggs behind. The trio must have hatched while we were gone. He watched as Vivienne staggered over to them, wrapping them up in her body and pressing them close. The poor things never knew their parents, and had never known the care-free nature of our clan before. The three didn’t survive the year, with no parents and hardly anyone to look after them, their chance of survival were low to begin with.

The fact that any number of them had survived the encounter was a miracle in itself. Most of it was thanks to Zoe, who tried hard to remain a positive influence in their lives. Deep down she was as heart-broken as the rest, but she was sure to smile at every remaining member daily. She arranged the younger and the less affected dragons to continue hunting and gathering food for the others who rarely left their homes.
“We’re leaving.” Zuro and Delcie said to her on one such venture. The shock of the statement meant she missed her catch. The trio watched the rabbit found away before she turned on them.
“What do you mean you’re leaving?” She exclaimed outraged. They bowed their heads in resignation, glancing at each other out of the corner of their eyes. Zuro stepped forward, flinching when the spiral focuses her attention on him.
“This place isn’t the same anymore, the others are nothing but lifeless husks and I’m sick of looking after dragons who don’t even care enough about themselves to eat.” He snarled but quickly regretted it as Zoe’s eyes narrowed. She sighed deeply, then looked back at the two with a softer, motherly gaze.
“I can understand. It will be more difficult without the two of you to help me, but I’m sure I’ll make do.” She spoke softly, stepping closer to the two so they could embrace. They buried their muzzles in her long, warm body and she tried her hardest to ignore the warm wetness in their eyes, instead choosing to whisper reassuring words to them. When they separated the two straightened themselves up, drawing their bodies to their full size and setting a determined look on their faces.
“Where will you go now?” She asked them. Delcie answered, his voice cracking part way through, the emotions running deep through him still clear to her.
“To serve the Flamecaller. We’ve heard rumors that she’s been accepting warriors to her side to fight against the Shade’s return. I think we’ll fit in.” She nodded. Zoe too had heard these rumors, and had seen the sense in joining. However she was too attached to her family and friends and couldn’t leave them behind.
“I’ll tell the others where you’ve gone. Best of luck.” She told them, they bowed, before retreating away at a steady pace towards the Great Furnace burning in the center of the Flamecaller’s land. Zoe began her own return home, to a lair filled with broken hearts and empty souls. She flew quickly, as to not feel the fresh tears running down her cheeks. She whispered softly to the wind, her words carried away to where no one would hear them.
“Best of luck to us all.”

It took several months for the clan to regather themselves. But by that point their numbers had dwindled drastically, and roughly only a dozen remained in the lair. Several dragons had left, searching for greener pastures, and several others had perished from various causes. Those who remained were perhaps the strongest, most loyal group of dragons one will ever come across.
