the Plague Pharaoh

Lawful Evil • Ex-Leader of Chernogorsk Clan • Mate of Irisviel

"Who the hell died and made you the king?"
- Gilgamesh to Aragorn, the predecessor clan's king, when the pharaoh realised he was the supposed king.

He is the proud and menacing ex-leader and founder of the Chernogorsk Clan. Any minor battles concerning his clan, like the Night of the Nocturne, he will not participate in because he thinks himself above those fights and worthy of a more demanding battle. As a mate Gilgamesh is very attentive and while he may seem as polyamorous to outsiders due to his pleasure-seeking attitude, the whole clan of Chernogorsk knows otherwise; he is married, mated and bound to Irisviel - in sickness and in health - for life. Gilgamesh will stop at nothing in order to archive his ultimate goal -ruling the whole Scarred Wastelands. (Or the whole of Dragonhome, which did come first.) And, if chance has it -overthrowing the great Plaguebringer herself at the Wyrmwound. Gilgamesh has an obsession with becoming a deity and he has managed all the other steps into being one but the part of helping exalt old, sick and perished dragons to the afterlife. He is just not able to do this, which he is not elated about. One should also NEVER speak of that one time when Gilgamesh was overthrown by the great Sirenbeast from Arrakis Fields, or of the battle with the Scorpion King, if you ever want to spare your hide...

"Hero of Justice? A world where no one is hurt? Don't be absurd! 'Dragonkind' is just another word for animal that cannot find joy in life without sacrifice."

A bit mad and full of himself, Gilgamesh requires everyone in his clan to worship him like a god. He has an exceptionally large treasure chest (in addition to his regular treasure hoard) in the pyramid part of his clan nest. He has told everyone to stay away from this treasure chest, even to the point of spreading a legend about ghostly monsters and the curse guarding it. Most of the clan members don't believe in the story, but the pharaoh's mate Irisviel has seen the monsters of Icewarden (Hylissang and Selfmade), that Gilgamesh enslaved in his treasure chest, with her own eyes before Gilgamesh and Irisviel created their clan. After the enslavement of those two gaolers and when the clan was already built, Irisviel's friend, the seer Patricia, told the new clan of Chernogorsk a prediction about how gaolers would destroy, butcher, all of their's clan in the future. That was when Gilgamesh built his pyramid and left his treasure there for safekeeping. The treasure had been undisturbed for nearly a decade until two of his adolescent clan members went and unleashed the gaolers. Gilgamesh was furious and decided to just lock the possessed clan members into the pyramid. Besides the enslaved gaolers, only Gilgamesh knows that there is something else locked in with the ancients; a sliver of Shade stolen from the Icewarden's gaolers, to be used only for Gilgamesh's needs.

"In that case...no, I won't say it. Everything from this point forward, is up to you. Do it all exactly as you desire; that is the true meaning of pleasure. Pleasure leads to the experience of joy. And joy will lead you to happiness. Your path is now clear, Kirei. So clear that there is no longer any need to hesitate."

The court of Lasgalen was dismantled by the order of Gilgamesh, (with the help of Kirei, a disguised Veilspun, who Gilgamesh had also persuaded to help in overthrowing Chernogorsk's predecessor clan) when Chernogorsk first overthrew another clan, taking over their lands. The court was too faithful to the predecessor clan and thus Gilgamesh saw it fit to get rid of the court also. A few chosen ones from the predecessor clan were allowed to merge in with Chernogorsk, a fact which Gilgamesh came to regret later, when it became known that two of them were the predecessor clan's lead pair. And due to those dragons the Lasgalen Court was reformed. However the new court consists mostly of dragons loyal to the Plague Pharaoh as Gilgamesh did get rid of those court members who were even slightly opposing of him; he wouldn't take any more risks.

"Anyone who even thinks about deserting me will be cut up into a million pieces and those pieces will be stamped on until what is left can be used only to paint walls. Anyone who takes even a grain more of their food rations, will be locked up for a thousand years with a grain less of food. You break the law and I'll punish you. There is no room for discussion."

Finally, after three years of carefully made advancements against Plaguebringer, on the 1st of December 2020 Gilgamesh succeded in overthrowing the great Plaguebringer herself and finally becoming that what he had driven himself to become; the deity and god of the whole plague flight. The clan's territory has been resized to accomodate Plaguebringer's previous residence in the Wyrmwound, which is where the royal pharaoh family now live. In honor of Gilgamesh's immense victory, the 1st of December is now a great celebration day for Chernogorsk. However, at 3rd of March 2021, two days over four months after Gilgamesh overthrew her, the Plaguebringer came back and Chernogorsk was in chaos, panicing. Plaguebringer chased them out of the Scarred Wastelands and the clan fled into the Earth flight's territory, Dragonhome. Gilgamesh was furious and immediately took over Earthshaker's lands, deeming the deity so much more weaker than Plaguebringer with Earthshaker just sitting at the pillar, crying after old times. Gilgamesh saw it as useless.

DO NOT MENTION THE 1ST OF DECEMBER TO GILGAMESH!
(because this dude's a ticking timebomb apparently!)

Now the clan has started to rebuild a new pyramid for the clan to live in. The new location, decided by Irisviel, is on the small rocky island in the western part of Dragonhome's plateaus. The seemingly deep cracks on the ground surrounding the island and dividing Dragonhome into different areas are actually quite shallow and thus the clan is able to re-dig all the pathways needed for the pyramid to function, mostly, just as it did in Scarred Wastelands. There were the additions of new pathways leading to each mapped area of the flight. The first thing to be built was the treasure vault were the gaoler's were and would still be held. When it became clear that Plaguebringer would chase them out of the Wastelands, Gilgamesh locked the gaolers up in his treasure chest with the Shade remains -yet again- and transported the chest with the clan as they departed from their previous home. Gilgamesh and his battleforces were the ones to ensure that the clan's departing would be mostly safe.

"Hold my hand in yours, Irisviel, and we will not fear what hands like ours can do; you will not fear me.”

Right when the new pyramid was built and the clan was supposed to settle down, something happened and the whole structure collapsed. It caused a few casualties and the clan was homeless yet again, causing some uproars against Gilgamesh. The plague pharaoh quickly shut the opposers down and decided that they would live in Terraclae from now on, as it was a similar structure to that of their pyramids and the court of Lasgalen had already settled down there with the Priests of Ra. Some clan members where still a bit frustrated and missing their home in Scarred Wastelands. Terraclae was, as it was, a much different home than what they were used to. Thus Gilgamesh decided to have another pyramid built. This time on top of the Terraclae formation and with more enduring core structure.

"I am Gilgamesh - the Plague Pharaoh - the wrath of God, no, I AM the God! If I want the birds to drop dead from the trees, then they shall do so. The earth I pass will see me and tremble. Whoever follows me and the Grail, will win untold riches. But whoever deserts…"

When Earthshaker later on returned to his lands after Gilgamesh overtook them, he was brought straight up to a furious Plague Pharaoh. Earthshaker asked for his lands to be given back to him. At first Gilgamesh refused without mercy, saying he would not give the deity anything -not unless the 'god' would beg him. And when Earthshaker, to Gilgamesh's surprise, did so, they hit up a deal. They would share Dragonhome; Gilgamesh would keep this original, real Dragonhome and Earthshaker and -by proxy- all other earth flight clans would be allowed to make another dimension in a lower plane with the help of Gilgamesh and the Akashic records. Within Catacomb City there was to be built a massive gate, called the Gates of Babylon, that would be the entrance to this substitute world -later on called III Delta Kaising- of Earthshaker's ruling. It would also be possible for the Kaisians to use the Gates as a passage to other Sornieth flights as such deed could not be possible from III Delta Kaising itself. Those gates would of course be protected by Earthshaker's forces in payment for Gilgamesh allowing him his lands 'back'. How it was decided whether one was trying to access Dragonhome from III Delta Kaising with bad intentions, was via a colossal sphinx statue that would question the traveler at the Babylon's Gates and let them in or banish them from ever entering Gilgamesh's Dragonhome depending on their answer. In the lower Earthshaker's faux of a version, the Babylon guardians were to hold off the evildoer from entering the actual version by any means necessary. The Babylon guardians are more in alignment with Gilgamesh than Earthshaker. In anycase, Gilgamesh sees this deal as more of an imprisonment for the Earthshaker - better to know where the deity is rather than letting him roam free. Last time the former deity was out of Gilgamesh's radar, he created the Obelisks. And that is a thing the Plague Pharaoh doesn't want repeated.

"This cannot be happening! Who did I anger that has the means to be able to do such deed? Who dares to anger me!?"

After the clan had settled comfortably into their earthly home something happened. The pharaoh pair had turned into gaolers. Nobody had any explanations as to why it happened. Maybe Gilgamesh had found a forbidden artifact that had hidden two gaolers within it and accidentallly released them on him and Irisviel. Maybe somebody had brought it to him and in his greed he had kept it, causing the gaolers to possess the lead pair. However, Gilgamesh was furious. To top it off this event happened around the same time when last year Gilgamesh had overthrewn the Plaguebringer and ruled for a while over Scarred Wastelands. Now however he had become something that was predicted long ago to become the doom of his clan; a gaoler. Normally the gaoler would fully possess the host as happened with the Lost Legends but Gilgamesh and Irisviel were too strong and remained as themselves- just within gaoler bodies.

Now, a series of events was set into motion. Irisviel wanted to have yet another hatch and Gilgamesh complied. After the hatchlings were born, Gilgamesh realised one thing; they were gaolers and they were his kits. One of them was bound to do something. When the other hatchling died Gilgamesh kept an eye out for the other one and at his coming of age decided to off the prince before he could overthrow Gilgamesh. Irisviel didn't like this. Gilgamesh had killed his kits before, yes, but they were never also Irisviel's kits. She knew that Gilgamesh wanted to show a bit of mercy to their kit, Enkidu, by simply poisoning him. Irisviel made an antidote and gave it to Enkidu. When the Plague Pharaoh gave his son the poison through food, something didn't work with the antidote and the prince turned into salt sand and was taken over by a gust of wind and flown out into the deserts of Dragonhome. Later on, Gilgamesh's first queen, Furia, returned wanting to become the queen yet again. The pharaoh did not accept this and insisted on her leaving. She did leave but Gilgamesh heard sometime later that she had mated with Enkidu. Gilgamesh could see where this would lead to...

"No-! No no no! You could not be more wrong here! My clan will never be yours! And you, Enkidu! I... should have killed you when I had the chance! I was much too lax on you- you damned gaoler!"

On 2022 Night of the Nocturne, a war breaks out in Nature flight and Anubis Legion is forced to take part when one of their own, Rambo, gets in trouble while in Shrieking Woods. Using this and the distraction of Night of the Nocturne overall, Enkidu, Furia and the Scorpion King make their move, attacking Catacomb City and making their way to Gilgamesh's throne. Few of the Anubis Legion members were still within the entrance of the City and managed to hold them off for a while for Gilgamesh and Irisviel to get a word of their attack. The pair prepared to defend the clan. Irisviel was in shock getting to know that the son she had wanted to save was here now, trying to harm their clan. The trio soon arrived to the pharaoh pair and a fight broke out. It would be the most legendary battle over Chernogorsk's history and would be called 'the Great Battle of Catacomb City'. And the results… well they were not what Gilgamesh had previsioned. Irisviel was hurt and Gilgamesh was forced to retreat himself when he had his shoulder torn badly by the Scorpion King. How could this have happened? Gilgamesh acted quickly before Enkidu, Scorpion King or Furia could hurt them any more. He used the power of Akashic Records and off they were not to be seen again for a long time. Some say that the pharaoh pair hid themselves within III Delta Kaising…

"Irisviel, I am sorry. It appears that Patricia was indeed- Well, I'll be damned..."

As for what happened after the Scorpion King rose to power, was that Gilgamesh and Irisviel were indeed forced to heal their wounds in the safety of III Delta Kaising and the Babylon Guardians.

"I feel so bad for getting Gilgamesh, the very first guy, but this dude is so twistedly hilarious. First of all; what a questionable taste in women, lol! I looked to see what his lovely wife would’ve looked like and she was a crocodile lady. Honestly, good for them. LOL! On another note, though, I LOVE his lore! Goodness, this man is someone who wants to not play god, but BECOME god! His sheer determination and twisted attitude is exactly what I love in a character like him: a thirst for power, forever. I love his accent as well. In some ways it’s a juxtaposition of who he actually is, considering the cross on him and his disdain for the deities and a need to become one himself. What a beautiful choice of colors!"
