Blessed Start
Born the second son of Huang Jin, Bond has never wanted for anything. Though his father left for the far parts of the world at a young age, he and his siblings were always taken care of. There was always food available, and teachers aplenty for their education.Despite his privileges, Bond was bored with his life. He craved something else beyond the formality and lessons. He realized early that the way he lived wasn't entirely normal in their clan. No one else had as many tutors or the same types of lessons. He was learning penmanship while others his age learned plant identification and gathering. He stopped showing up to lessons slowly at first, then altogether. His time was instead spent out in the Market, sneaking around the stalls and watching the common dragon. He ditched the more formal speech patterns of his youth in favor of the dialect more commonly used. However, his more proper roots still showed in his graceful mannerisms and bearing while walking. He was a young lord in movement if not in speech, and trying to be otherwise made him a favorable mystery rather than an everyday dragon.
A More Aggressive Lesson
Realizing he was drifting off, his mother hired one last tutor for her wayward son. She hired a battle tutor.This tutor taught Bond what he'd been craving: adventure. But not the fun, let's go save the maiden and get the treasure part of adventure. No, he was taught the gritty survival aspects of adventure. Bond at last got his opportunity to learn plant identification and gathering. He slept without shelter during storms, and dug for clay in stream beds when he felt ill. He was taught how to defend himself with magic, and how to heal. When Bond finally returned home, he understood at last why his mother had tried so hard to raise him differently. His once pristine orange coat was now forever stained by the hard work of living. He sat back down at his writing desk, penned a thank you letter to her, and left for good. Bond considers himself a backwoods gentledrake. His speech and mannerisms reflect an early upbringing in comfort, but he's not afraid to step in when needed and do a job himself. |
