Shizen
Leaves from the vine, falling so slow, like fragile tiny shells drifting in the foam.
Shizen was born different. All the boys teased her, because even though she was born just like them, a male, it was clear she never was one. She was so feminine, and so intent on being called pretty, not handsome. It made her strange. It made her unwelcome.
She was only a gentle soul, and their harsh words sometimes hurt more than the sticks and stones they threw at her. She stayed silent, and told not a single dragon of her pain. Why should I, she thought. They would only tease me too. She slipped into depression, hiding away from everyone, trying to block it all out. It grew on her like an infection, and she suddenly found herself unable to find joy in anything anymore. But then she met the dragon who changed her life. They were just like her, they explained. They too had been hatched a male, but never truly felt like they belonged in that body. They felt disconnected, and disphoric. As they explained this to Shizen, she realised what they meant. She realised she felt that all before. She realised that while yes, her bullies and tormentors were a factor in her declining mental health, so too was that nagging feeling she always had, that something was wrong. It was hard to accept. She knew what it meant, of course. But what did this mean for her, for her future? And all of her relationships, as small as they were. She was scared. But at the same time, she felt free. She. Yes, she knew who she really was now. It was hard, but she found herself able to embrace it. She dressed in gowns and flowery decal, gossiped with some of the older clan members, and for the first time, she felt happy. The others in her life were so surprised. It was such a turnaround from the dragon they once knew. Suddenly she was happy once more. She was interacting with the others, making friends. She developed a close social circle, and blossomed into someone who truly looking like they were happy with who they were. But then came the biggest step. Revealing herself as she truly was. Needless to say, many were not surprised when she came out as trans, but a few were caught off guard. Most accepted her, a few turned her away. But she was fine with that. She knew, with no doubt, her true friends would be the ones who accepted her, and embraced her. |

But as time went on, Shizen felt a nagging feeling. There was still something wrong. Again she grew scared, and again she worried, but this time, she had faithful friends by her side, supporting her. She explained how she felt, one day.
"I don't understand it, I'm tired of feeling disconnected again." She lamented. "My heart wants to see more, but I could never leave you all, not after you helped me." She explained. Her friends laughed and smiled, and rubbed her back. "You have wonderlust my dear. you wish to see the world, you wish to see more. It is ok to leave. It's ok to find somewhere else to call home. I know, in my heart of hearts, that you will still find friend who can support you. Of that I have no doubt." One of her friends said, with a kind look in their eyes. Shizen was confused, and scared still, but she understood. She hugged them each, thanking them for all they had done for her. And with that, she left the jungle, trying to find somewhere she would feel comfortable once more. She visited Dragonhome, and met a kindly old snapper family, who invited her in for tea and biscuits. But still something felt wrong. No, this was not the place for her. So then she travelled to The Tangled Wood, where a young nocturne entertained her with games. But that feeling nagged once more. At the Sea of a Thousand Currents, a large Guardian, who towered above her, showed her how to swim and catch fish, although she did not eat any. A mirror in the Scarred Wasteland hunted with her, and they sang as they ran. In the Starfall Isles, an energetic fae colony dazzled her with a stunning magic display. The Southern Icefields were cold, but a Tundra pack kept her warm, both outside and inside. On the Windswept Plateau she found a Spiral and a Skydancer, who showed her fun aerial acrobatics. The Ashfall Waste led her to a wizened old coatl, who kept her frail Nature-born body safe in the blazing heat. The shifting expanse brought her to a kind Ridgeback, who charged her up with something he called 'coffee'. And finally, she came upon the Sunbeam Ruins. As she ran across the open fields, with the brilliant sky above, she realised that this place was somewhere far more comforting than anywhere she had been so far. It was there she came across The Secrets. So many unique dragons, who all accepted her. It was there she fell into the role who felt natural for her, and still allowed her to talk with those back at home. The Nature Representative. |

Shizen is a kind, caring dragon. She looks out for others at all times, and cares for her close friends as if they were family. She enjoys watching things grow and develop, and takes things slowly. She knows that some things need more time, and is willing to give them that time. Her belly is encased in a thin, fluid layer of glass, which traps a richly-coloured liquid beneath it. She can, at will, spit out this liquid. It has healing properties when used on animals, and helps plants to grow not only faster, but bigger and stronger too. She works side by side with the healers, to help things become stronger. It upsets her to see anything being mistreated in any way, and she will protect it as well as she can. She is very strong, and likes helping the clan by pulling heavy logs about for them.

Shizen is the Nature Representative, first and foremost. Her primary role to to communicate with other nature clans who wish to communicate with The Secrets. She is not quite as wild as her cousins in the Labyrinth, but her peacefulness has solved many a conflict. She also works as a healer, focusing mostly on injured wildlife.

She is a dragon of compassion, something that fits in well with the rest of the clan. She is very close with most of the other Flight reps, aside from Ekirei and Kasai, although those two aren't much for conversation anyway. She is good friends in particular with Yoro , the lead healer. She works with him to organise missions, to go rescue and rehabilitate injured animals.

Shizen's familiar is a charming Gladegift Ambassador named Tail. He's old for a dryad, but has the youthful spirit of a child. He loves jokes and funny stories, and can often be seen wandering about the clan finding someone to entertain.
She is not one for battle, and will avoid it when possible. She likes to stay on the sidelines and heal, instead. However, if forced into a fight, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her feminine demeanor hides her raw strength, and deadly speed. She prefers trying to end fights as fast as possible, with minimal damage to the opponent.
