Born to among the wild hills and rolling plains of the Windswept Plateau, Raphael has lived his entire life with the endless sky. While his young friends decided to become airship technicians and musicians, Rafael has always wanted to be quick like the slithering breeze through grass and wild like the roiling storms that so often sweep his homeland. As a hatchling, while others were building kites and flutes, Rafael was chasing the wind in his ears, so much like the surf below, hoping to become ever faster. His parents cautioned that running was not a job, and that it would be difficult to find a clan that valued him for more than his pretty face if he didn't work on more marketable skills. He took up hunting, training with his mother and enjoying that so much of this skill - silence, tracking, scent-catching - was so dependent on the winds. He soon found his stride in this occupation, and when he was old enough to leave home, he joined Clan Rook as one of the primary hunters in the clan. As he lost the legginess of youth, Raphael has found a point in his life where he is, sometimes, tired. Having spent a great deal of energy bringing home meat for his clan, he has now allowed himself the luxury of relaxing after a long week. And though he has begun learning to appreciate the beautiful things in life - the sunrise, birdsong, the twist of a shell, the smile of the clan's lace-maker - he has also sought to contribute to them. He is learning to carve bamboo in his spare time. Though his efforts right now are clumsy, with patience and practice, carving will be like running for him, and he will have a small collection of beautiful wind chimes, each lovingly shaped to resonate at a different frequency. He often thinks his parents would be proud, since if his legs ever fail him, at least he will have yet another skill to cement his place in the clan. | ==== |
