Flamestorm

Hrothgar had a dream. The same dream three nights in a row. An Imperial hatchling left alone on a mountaintop. The hatchling was shining black, with fiery red edges, like an ember. On the third night Hrothgar recognized the mountain. It was not too far from his lair, just inside the Shadow area. The hatchling was from the Lightning flight, though. Hrothgar got up in the middle of the night. Firestorm asked what was wrong. "I don't know, but I will find out", he answered, and left. He flew a couple of hours towards the Lightning flight area and reached the mountaintop, The hatchling was there. Hrothgar expected him to be weak of hunger, but he was not. Instead he was strong and bold. "Who are you?" he demanded. "My name is Hrothgar, and this is my territory"; Hrothgar answered. The hatchling bowed. "Greetings, King Hrothgar. My name is Flamestorm. I was sent to strengthen your lair." "By whom?" Hrothgar asked, but the hatchling did not answer, except for looking up to the sky. There was something mystic about this hatchling. Hrothgar sensed a power within, a power he would have been worried about, did he not also see that this hatchling had a good, loyal heart. The hatchling clearly believed he was meant to become a member of Hrothgar's lair. After the three dreams Hrothgar believed that was how it was meant to be. "Welcome to my lair, Flamestorm", he said. "Can you fly, or shall I carry you?" The hatchling sneered, "Of course I can fly." With this he spread his wings - surprisingly strong for a mere hatchling, though as an Imperial he wouldn't even need them for flying - and took flight. Hrothgar ascended to the sky after him. Together they flew to Hrothgar's lair. Firestorm was surprised when Hrothgar brought home a Lightning hatchling, but she had already got used to her husband's odd abilities. Hrothgar knew what was best for the lair. This time, for some reason only Shadowbinder knows, it was this hatchling.

To everyone's surprise Flamestorm grew up into a dragon during the same night Hrothgar brought him to the lair. His choice of career was crystal clear: He was going to be a warrior and an officer in the Royal Guard.

When Morrigan stepped out of the shadows to the light of the fire, and the opal scales on her body shone like colored jewels, Flamestorm felt that he had known this beautiful lady all his life - even though they had just met.

Flamestorm and Morrigan were a happy couple, but Morrigan was lost in the mist.

Even after the Flight and Ruler change Flamestorm is an officer in the Royal Guard.
