Gemma was found by the Tribe of Wandering Dragons when she was very young. Her mother had been moving her and her siblings to where their father denned, as both parents lived separately, and the snapper hatchlings would not have found their mother's dense and murky territory suitable. It was an arrangement the bogsneak dragoness and snapper bull had been carrying out for years now, with their offspring staying with their respective parent based on the species they took on. However, this time, the mother and young were attacked, leaving poor little Gemma lost and alone.

When the two fae, Caeli and Tonitrua, came across the poor darling, they split up to leave one with the hatchling while the other went in search of the mother and other hatchlings the little snapper had told them about. Signs of a skirmish were soon discovered, but there was very little blood, leading the pair to believe Gemma's kin was still alive. Although, try as they might, they were never found, and the youngling could only be kept out there for so long. She needed to be cared for, and two fae could only provide so much for the young female and knew it would take some time to get back to the tribe.

For three days, Caeli and Tonitrua stayed together while escorting the little Gemma, but they soon realized they might not make it there in time before she would become malnourished and weak. Tonitrua left and went ahead of the two, travelling every moment that he could in order to reach the tribe and lead someone back. It was roughly a quarter of a moon cycle before Tonitrua returned with Terhi by his side, and the dragoness didn't hestitate to scoop up the snapper and fly back. They reached the tribe's current location within two days, arriving late in the evening. Gemma was tucked into one of the unoccupied nests where she quickly fell asleep, and understandably so.

Years had passed, and when the snapper female had come of age, she was paired with a bull of her kind named Terram. He, too, had been raised in the tribe and the two were reared alongside one another. Their liking for each other was obvious, and the two were evidently a good match. Thus, the decision was made, and the two have been together ever since.
