A specialized lamp that uses sap from birch trees in the Starwood Strand. It emits an eerie blue flame.

he travels with those leaving the clan, be it for their service to the gladekeeper or for their trip to their new home, and ensures a safe journey. he has a knack for calming and reassuring any dragons, especially young ones, who may be nervous about departing.

a huge sweetheart. definitely not adverse to spoiling those close to him (especially amaryllis and taurik).

was nicknamed stargazer, sleepyhead, and some that didn't stick by pumpkin. if he didn't know better, he'd think that pumpkin never learned his name.

he is extremely close friends with and sometimes mate to pumpkin. despite a few disagreements between them, their closeness has never ceased. (he's the only one that knows pumpkin isn't his real name, and does indeed know the dragon's real name, but knows he prefers pumpkin.) providing pumpkin with distance has never been an issue, either. snapdragon knows that he needs it.

confided in luna and dusk about his want to have a hatchling of his own, (iesile was a massive influence and she approached him and pumpkin with a petition and encouragement to raise a hatchling together), and once they found that he would be suitable to raise one, they agreed to allow him to adopt amaryllis. he went to them and other parents of the clan often for advice and help, especially considering how their difference in species causes some hiccups, but they are very close.

encouraged and supported pumpkin with raising taurik, and has come to think of him as his own son. often dotes on him and, despite pumpkin's denial, knows that he does the same.

he was the one to find bab's egg during an outing with pumpkin. it seemed as soon as he opened his mouth to suggest keeping and raising the hatchling inside, pumpkin had beat him to it and even curled carefully around the egg. beloved.

virtue found themself confused and rather conflicted about going to the gladekeeper and serving under her. they spent a long time training, yet they still had doubts. snapdragon, of course, being used to such doubts in those he assisted in leaving the clan, was patient and attentive to their emotions during the trip. virtue admitted halfway into the trip that they didn't really want to leave, they could do so much in the clan, and they had grown to think of snapdragon as a father figure in their time together. they returned to the clan with snapdragon, soon finding themself in a large family and feeling fulfilled as they helped out with various tasks around the clan.

bab is a little sweetheart adopted into their pumpkin patch, and although she loves the both of them, snapdragon finds her in his shadow often. sometimes following him along when escorting others out of the clan. she's very excited and has stated before that she would love to join him on his job one day. bab's as sweet and patient as snapdragon, she'll do a very good job.



gentle claws gently worked at the mats beginning to form in that thick orange fur. no flinching, absolute trust. snapdragon's not sure how he's obtained it over these years, but it's not something he takes lightly. he respects his friend and takes great care to comb through the fur. the abnormally thick summer coat caught often in the plant life, mud, sometimes blood. he knows well: pumpkin doesn't care too terribly much about the state of his fur. "I don't know why you take so much time to clean up my fur when it's impossible for it to stay clean." snapdragon knows how much he appreciates and is calmed by the grooming. when he deems his work done, he settles carefully next to pumpkin.

it is very likely that he'll be alone when he wakes up. this doesn't bother him. he has no need to bind the dragon to keep him in his company. it's just as likely he'll return tomorrow night. (pumpkin would never admit this, but he knows.) the quiet night only alive with the noise of fauna lulls him into sleep, his company long since resting beside him.



he can hear pumpkin when he rustles in through the cave entrance. snapdragon is hopelessly endeared by his insistence on so much apparel, and wonders how he could ever sneak around on his trips out of the clan. another secret of his, he supposes. the warmth in his chest is familiar and he welcomes it. he's focused on amaryllis' explanation of some in-fashion goth apparel that she gathered from the marketplace. he's not entirely sure of all the specifics himself but she doesn't seem to mind.

"dad! i think you might like these!" amaryllis calls out, excited and lifting her head to greet him.

if he didn't know pumpkin so well, he wouldn't see the hesitance and hmm, there's a certain scent to him. very familiar. pumpkin steps over to where snapdragon has settled with amaryllis, and joins them in resting on the soft dirt of the cave floor. he pushes the clothes aside gently, then, with even more care, removes a bundle from within his apparel. unwrapped, he sees the hatchling's eyes, trailing with a thick liquid that he has seen only a few times before. a visitor from a shadow clan.

amaryllis' tail swishes across the floor and she struggles to keep still as she leans in to inspect the hatchling's eyes. "they're so cute! look at those eyes! how do you get more goth than dripping black eyes!" she speaks in hushed whispers, though she's not very good at them. the hatchling makes soft noises, curious and a little unsure about their new situation, and snapdragon finds himself enamored.

"hello there, sweetheart." he gently nuzzles the hatchling, watching as pumpkin trails careful nails through goo-covered fur- they're going to need quite a few baths with the way they just drip all over. "where'd you come from?" he lays down with them, nudging them with a paw so they find his thick fur and cuddle against him.

pumpkin is quiet as he explains. apologetic in bringing home another hatchling but clearly without regret for having done so. "i couldn't just leave them there... and they are rather... adorable." it's such a change from when snapdragon first met him, and he is more than happy to have another hatchling to raise. warm and safe in their growing home. he nuzzles against pumpkin's muzzle through the bandages, and smiles as he feels him reciprocate. amaryllis settles in with them, and snapdragon can't wait for the rest of his family to meet the hatchling.
