Lera is a child of Esrare, a Wind Spirit, and Hirame, a Summoner. This unorthodox union of dragon and spirit has created hatchlings with unique gifts and traits. These offspring carry a power unique to Hirame's bloodline known as 'Summoning'. This ability allows the user to summon various beasts and creatures that live in Sornieth. However, sentient beings, such as the Beastclans, are not available to summon. First, one must make a deal with an individual in order to call them to your side. The larger the creature, the more energy it takes to call upon them. Dragons must train their body and mind in order to perform large summonings and or multiple summonings in a row. It takes years of practice and many failed attempts, but anyone within the bloodline is capable of using the power.



Offspring of Esrare will find that spirits and various otherworldly creatures are attracted to them. The long whiskers on the Pearlcatcher's snout help in sensing supernatural activity around them. Some dragons will cut their whiskers short so they don't get in the way during a fight; Dragons with shorter whiskers (and those who have changed breed) will experience more difficulty when trying to sense spirits, but they never entirely loose the ability. Skydancers and Imperials have a higher sensitivity as well because of their antennae (Skydancers) and whiskers (Imperials).
