Feather was once timid and shy-- afraid to say what she thought, always agreeing with the group. She was a bookwyrm of the highest order, until her clan members were cursed for their arrogance.
Due to her sweet and kind nature, Feather was totally unaffected by the stone-curse that afflicted her peers. She made the selfless decision to care for them, packing delicate dragons with cloth, so they would not be injured on their mass exodus to the north. On their journey, Feather was faced with many sick dragons, hungry bellies, and orphaned hatchlings whose parents had hardened away in front of them. She rose to the occasion magnificently-- she foraged every day, providing medicinal herbs and edible plants to her clanmates. Many hatchlings learned to read and write at Feather's side, kept entertained by her whimsical voices and the berries she kept them constantly plied with. Once a shy, non-descript dragon, Feather grew into a fierce protector of her loved ones-- not through violence, but through tender, nurturing care. Upon reaching the Gladekeeper's territory, Feather carried all the clan hatchlings on her back, and climbed the tallest hill. There, she turned left and right, around and around, until each of them had seen their fill of their new home. Then, she returned to the rest of the clan, and carried those hatchlings all the way to the borders of the Acherontic frith. Once the clan was settled, Feather nearly immediately fell into a deep, hibernating sleep, the result of her selflessness. There she has remained ever since, her namesake feathers kept clean and anointed, and her whole body adorned with flowers by the dragons who once saw their world from her back. It is the hope of the entire clan that one day, a mysterious stranger might appear who can awaken their beloved caretaker, and take her on a magnificent adventure all her own... |
