Biography
Lifestyle
The true nature of the disease may vary, but the cult-like beliefs and rituals remain very much the same amongst these fanatics. They tend to believe their own illness is superior to others, though some may attempt to carry multiple plagues at once, or cycle between weaker viruses as their immune systems fight off each new infection. These dragons are often very social, trying to get in contact with as many non-infected as possible and can often be very beautiful and appealing to attract mates. Most groups seek to live long enough to breed and infect as much as possible. They are often leery of pairing off with a non-Vector, unless the potential mate seems to have the kind of personality that would thrive in their culture.
Methods of Transmission
Regardless of their particular virus, the skin tends to be hardened and covered in fine, sharp scales like shark skin. A mere brush over any part of them can create a mass of scratches ideal for sharing their chosen contaminations. For those who don't infect easily, their wicked claws and spines are at the ready, oozing filthy fluids. Breeds with feathers or fins may find their plumage becoming hollow, constantly seeping, though more when attacked or fighting.
Symptoms
Though their illnesses do not usually affect the brain, they all seem to have paranoid ideas about the world and delusions of grandeur that seem to come from some unknown madness. Symptoms usually begins with a fever or period of long or intense illness. A successful infection always results in sharp hollow spines growing through the skin and forever weeping plague ridden fluids. Much like a vampire might nurse a young vampire after it's transformation, the clan takes in and cares for the sick dragon if they can subdue it, or convince it they are helping. Somehow, the clan seems to have a few potent potions or perhaps natural secretions that keep an incubating victim calm and sluggish during the initial stages. Once the spines and other sharp parts have fully developed, the new Vector can leave or remain with the clan. Occasionally, a new member is unceremoniously banished. The clan knows they will seek company and unwittingly spread their contagion with little effort for the original Vectors.
Additional
Aside from social interactions, Vectors crave humid, moist places to replenish the water they lose in the production of infectious oozings but otherwise are content in many different habitats.
Ideal Genetics: Crystal/Iridescent ; Facet/Shimmer ; Spines
*Spines MUST be the tertiary
*If the primary is NOT crystal, the secondary MUST be facet
*If the secondary is NOT facet, the primary MUST be crystal
*Tiger is acceptable
*Bar and daub are acceptable
*While greens are not disqualifying, there are many other subspecies that have a lot of green. Vectors prefer to distinguish themselves from the masses. Green is an unlucky color in their folklore and many will shun a dragon that has "too much green".
*Pastel colors (pink, lavender, lighter yellows) indicate their infection is a weaker strain, unable to color their body with the true tones of deep-rooted infection.
*Truly blanched dragons should be closer to maize, greys or icy blues. Mixed colors are fine as the Vectors approve of tackling more than one illness at a time, but they prefer the colors look pleasing and likely to attract admiration from non infected dragons![/size]
*Special Note: Red and purple spectrums represent bloody, hemorrhagic diseases. Yellow represents jaundice owing to liver destruction. Pallid tones represent wasting diseases such as TB. Jewel tones with occasional pastels are acceptable if they fit a particular viral or bacterial profile.
