Grim is a ruthless, skeptical, and cautious ridgeback (but he can also be very curious if he deems something safe). he dwells deep in the tangled wood, camouflaged among the withered plants. he visits the sea often to fish. he's gotten used to being in the water, so he doesn't have the extreme aversion to it that others of his kind do. his left wing is injured to the point that it's basically useless, so he doesn't fly a lot. Grim is also the shadow representative and monarch of Shroomblight City.
Grim's left wing was injured when, as a younger dragon, he was caught in a forest fire. Part of his right wing was burned, too, but it eventually healed.

Grim and his mate, Blight, are very close even though they work at opposite ends of the city. Blight, however, tries to visit the palace as frequently as she can, and she sometimes brings gifts, much to the appreciation of Grim.

the cool wind rustled the leaves near Grim. the ridgeback's scales rattled in the breeze, almost sounding like bones clattering. birds chirped, though Grim couldn't see them through the tangled brush. he continued on, never knowing what time of day it was.
