Heike

With a nickname like "ugly duckling," it's not hard to tell where Heike stands in the pecking order. "Opal dragons aren't supposed to be ugly." Despite the interference of her parents, her siblings are quite cruel to her, just because she isn't as pretty as they are. As much as her parents tell her that she will one day find a loving home, Heike thinks herself even unworthy of serving the gods.

One day Heike reached her breaking point and left her home. Wandering aimlessly, she simply followed the paths carved between the trees and bushes. Her nature abilities aided her well until she left the Labyrinth. Once out of her homeland, the young dragon started to experience odd things and events. Heike had been sheltered, so maybe that had something to do with it, but she was intrigued by everything in the world.

The one thing that stuck and called to her was alchemy. She'd learned about how bogsneaks had come from one of many complicated process in the craft, which only drove her curiosity.
