shadowv1.png Unlike most dragons in the Onyx Peaks, I began my life in the Amber Vale. Having been taught my entire life that only Light was kind, I grew a sort of distaste for my own way of being. My personality was toxic, in my mind, for who could ever love someone who embraced the growing darkness? At the time, the clan was still young and the Light was weak. The Amber Vale did not radiate warmth, nor did it hold the yellow haze that now convinces passerby that the rock faces are a dim orange. Peaches led the young group of dragons, and slowly came to notice that only allowing dragons to be kind, happy, and radiant was destroying us all from the inside out. Sun argued with her daily, pushing against Peaches to allow dark dragons to express themselves. The Amber Vale, it seemed, was always at war with itself. I was always at war with myself. Right when an outbreak of violence seemed likely, Peaches gathered us all on a rock overlooking the Amber Vale. Broken crags surrounded the basin, and the valley itself was hollow and barren.It was then that she had the epiphany that the light could not survive without the dark. It was then that the dawn came. I was appointed to lead the dragons of darkness into the Onyx Peaks, where they could be free. It destroyed us all for a while. Until we realized that differences were not equivalent to death or to disagreement, and that home was not place-dependent. Although we are not the same, we belong together.
