I’m just holding this!
Akoyiro was usually the colour of the soot and dirt in the mines.
He was a hard worker, joining the rest of the miners every morning and only returning at dusk, when the last of the mine workers trickled back from the mines.
He loved gold and silver, and tried his best to find as much as he could.
It was only natural that the clan leaders assigned him the role of head miner.
He had a knack for finding valuable ores, picking them out in places where no other dragon dared to look.
But he dumped it all in the hoard, without a second thought for himself.
It wasn't about the greed, you see.
It was never about the greed.
He simply loved the hunt for the ore and gemstones, but once he obtained them, they were as useful to him as a clawful of pebbles.
Akoyiro didn't need treasure.
He had everything he needed.
A mate, friends, family, a home.
Sure, it was dangerous working in the mines, with the threat of collapsing cave walls and stumbling on large underground gas pockets hanging over his head, but Akoyiro loved his job.
And he had his own way of coping with the stress.
Akoyiro was a prankster, constantly hiding Whoopee cushions under every seat he could find, even putting them under the nests of dragons.
He swapped around the hoards with the treasury, thoroughly confusing the accountants, and even switched a few dragons' familiars around.
It wasn't that he liked creating trouble.
Far from it.
He just really happened to like playing pranks.
He knew that Akoya, his mate, didn't approve of his behaviour, but she loved him anyways.
And he did too.
The two coatls were practically devoted to each other, though they were as different as the night and day.
Akoya was organised, mature, and peaceful in nature.
But Akoyiro?
He was playful and cheeky, never once hesitating at the chance to play a prank on another dragon.
And although he was a completely different dragon in the mines, he made up for it by behaving as mischievous as he could when he wasn't working.
It wasn't an easy job being a miner.
But he could cope.
He had to, you see.
