STORY can you hear me calling?

COMPONENTS: Good food, fine mead, the scent of funeral sprays. The silk of polished marble, the echo of a voice in a still chapel. Songs eons upon eons older than you are.

Story is exuberant. She takes up space in a way that is both overbearing and comforting, a crushing hug, a clutch on life that -- as the air is knocked from your lungs -- makes you recall just how beautiful it is to be here.

Death is constant, the definitive, quiet end of the noise and chaos of living. Your family, your beloved, whomever sits still at the altar, they are soon to embark on the path to that sweet peace. But what they have done here on the mortal plane, their service to their god, to their family, their achievements, none of it will be forgotten.

Story takes charge of a ceremony called the opening of the mouth. The last rite, it follows embalming, or the enormous final pilgrimage that those of orthodox earth descent send their dead on. And it is no sombre affair. Food and drink are brought out, all of the deceased's favorites. Song and stories echo through the halls of The Tabernacle, a few hours of celebration, of love and rememberance and of frantic, loud living to honor the dead.
