Biography

When you reach the end of a journey and you cannot find what’s next. Listen closely. Listen to the sound of sharp talons over rough sands, listen for large wings beating in open air, listen for the rumble of a large thing breathing as it comes closer.

........................................................................................................................

Cain has seen many many seasons come to pass and has learned much more than his fair share of hardship and grief. He does not speak of what happened before. Many of his clanmates have heard the whispers on the tongues of passerby. The rumors that say he was once apart of a very fierce and brutal clan that was both respected and greatly feared. These whispers also speak of the clans mysterious disappearance and the lack of any other members having been seen again.

A clever, self-reliant, independent dragon that is most comfortable in his own head and usually left in his own company. Cain knows well the rumors of him. He knows what stories hatchlings told of his former clan. A fierce clan that praised strength and cunning. Cain did not disagree that they may have at times been a bit ruthless but they were by no means-especially not by plague means, a cruel bunch.

While the disappearance of his clan is not something he is willing to speak of, it’s nowhere near as dark or grizzly as outsider dragons would have anyone believe. There was a death involved but it was nobodys fault. It was a fairly natural unfolding of events and eventually the overwhelming clashing of personalities without the dragon that had mediated the clan, it simply crumbled and the dragons drifted off one by one-many to new flights for one reason or another.

Cain was fairly young when this happened and soon found himself forced to find his own way to survive and grow within the vast expanses of the scarred wasteland. Havin been raised by a clan of swift and talented warriors he managed to adapt just quickly enough to survive, and over several decades, to thrive.

After many years alone only meeting other dragons in passing and sticking to a fairly nomadic lifestyle, Cain found a decent chunk of territory that he knew would make the perfect spot to stay for a while. The small below ground caverns offered plenty of shelter from the scorching sun during the day, and sufficient protection at night. The prey ran well enough in the general area and the rocks, deadwood trees, and tumbleweed could easily be used to furnish a den.

It was never Cain’s intention to form a clan of his own but it happened so slowly and so naturally by the time words like “leader” began to be thrown about it was shockingly and almost eerily undeniable that that was exactly what Cain was.

He knew the heartache and loss of a clan crumbling and how even the most self sufficient dragons could be left feeling lost and deeply hurt for a very long time could donto a dragon and he knew it well. However he could not help but feel that things may be different this time. He knew how it felt to have his world shaken by loss and/or the fear of what was to come and so did every dragon in this new clan. The few guardians that seemed to flock to his new territory-each with their own story and reasons for being here (though Cain suspected it may have been the plague mother herself calling them to his side to prove even the most scarred of hearts can love), the first few nocturnes that showed up not long after him; claiming to only wish to stay and rest for a bit (though Cain would be Lyon if he did not admit he enjoyed their company and the skills of Autagaste who had all but leaped into the role of a healer with her faithful “students” Khoshekh and Elias), the bog sneaks that seems to come out of nowhere and just fit right in perfectly as if they’d always been with him, the pearlcatchers that offered detailed stories and funny quips to dear friends that they had been glad to find after individual journeys and struggles, there were dragons of many breeds from many flights that had found their way into the scarred wastelands and into the living claws of the flight of the plague mother.

Cain was the leader of a clan of his own. A clan that had some of the brightest personalities he’d ever seen. Though he rarely was heard to say it, he loves his clan with all his scarred heart and loves everyone in it. Though disagreements may arise in such a large, close-knit unit Cain is glad to see the constant love that every dragon here has for each other. He would not call this new clan of his any less fierce or strong than any other in the wastelands-but he would call the bond they share and the way they work as such a strong unit to make them a far superior clan.

Cain maintains that he needs his solo flights at night to keep his sanity, and his own chosen spot to sleep remains a bit more secluded. Being a part of a clan so rich with substance did not make him any less content to be alone with himself from time to time.

A loving leader however, Cain can often be found trying to “subtly” make excuses to visit the nesting grounds and to visit new hatchlings. Cain has been found to be a pretty agreeable dragon for the most part but hatchlings were by far Cain’s favorite dragons to interact with. So adorably honest and full of life and so open minded. Playing with the hatchlings and even teaching them to hunt of he is able are by far Cain’s favorite things to do.
