Zagreus is the great sea dragon who guards the entrance of Heron Cove. Originally a Shadow dragon, he came upon the cove while exploring the outreaches of The Tangled Wood. He is a proud, quiet dragon who takes his purpose of protecting the cove very seriously. Still a trickster at heart, he can sometimes be seen underwater, allowing his large protuding fins to emerge and spook intruding dragons or beasts.

While Zagreus has perfectly functional wings, he only uses them occasionally. More often than not, they are used as massive flippers to propel him through the water. Every other full moon, he can be seen perching on the rocks preening barnacles off his scales.
